Graduation Time

Once Kayano is revived, Korosensei collapses onto his back, drained and aware that his remaining time has run out. He asks the class to hold him down, and though they hate the idea, they pin his tentacles until he cannot move. Nagisa steps forward to carry out the deed himself. After bidding farewell to Irina and Karasuma, Korosensei takes roll one final time, and every one of the twenty-eight students in Class 3-E answers, some through tears, while he silently gives thanks for a year in which he nurtured them and was nurtured in return.

As Nagisa raises the knife toward his teacher's heart, his whole body trembles until Korosensei soothes him and tells him to smile. Managing to do so, Nagisa says his last goodbye and delivers the strike, pouring every feeling he holds into it. Korosensei dissolves into a bright glow until only his clothes are left behind, and the class breaks down weeping as their assassination classroom finally ends. On the morning of their junior high graduation, the students wake in the classroom, having drifted off while reading through the enormous books of guidance their late teacher left for each of them.

The episode aired in Japan on June 23, 2016, adapting Chapter 176, Chapter 177, and the first half of Chapter 178. The anime lists Korosensei's immobility as weakness number 33, whereas the manga puts it at 37, and it precedes the execution with a montage of shared memories between him and the class rather than Nagisa's recollections alone. Notably, this installment forgoes the usual Bye Bye YESTERDAY opening.
