Appearance

Tobiume appears as a small young girl with long brown hair and matching brown eyes, its front locks bound by cylindrical clips into two lengths and topped by a third ornament of pink-yellow circles with a tree-like piece. She wears a white kimono trimmed in pink over a pale purple skirt, tied at the waist with yellow fabric, and a long pink ribbon strung with a heavy bell at each end loops loosely around her upper body. Brown sandals over white socks complete the look.

Personality

While under Muramasa's control, Tobiume is playful, sarcastic, and cruel, calling combat a game and enjoying it more when foes flee. She bickers constantly, and often violently, with Haineko over beauty and the attention of men, yet the two fight well as a pair and each blames the other when things go wrong. Toward Momo she is especially harsh, mocking her trusting nature and claiming she was glad to be rid of someone so weak, though she snaps at Haineko for insulting her master. Freed of the brainwashing, she turns apologetic and far gentler, keeping only a teasing streak and growing close to Momo once more.

History

Tobiume waits with the other rebel Zanpakuto spirits for Muramasa and joins the assault on the Seireitei, hurling fireballs at unseated Soul Reapers. Alongside Haineko she is challenged by Momo and Rangiku Matsumoto, taunting Momo over Aizen's betrayal before the pair are subdued with Kido. Freed briefly by Byakuya Kuchiki, she keeps fighting until Yoruichi Shihoin holds her and Haineko off and reveals Muramasa's true aims. After Mayuri Kurotsuchi breaks the brainwashing, Tobiume helps defend Karakura Town from the Gillians Muramasa spawns and withdraws back into Momo's blade once he is beaten. In the later Beast Swords events she spends easy time with Momo, dines with the other spirits, and battles the final Toju Kirikaze before her materialized form finally fades. She can throw explosive fireballs from her bells or her blade and holds lieutenant-level spiritual power along with notable speed and strength; her sword's Shikai, released with the command to snap, forms a straight two-pronged blade that fires fireballs.
