Cathrine Elle Armstrong

Cathrine carries the hallmarks of the Armstrong line, from her fair skin and blonde hair to the lone strand that curls up from the center of her forehead, and even the family's trademark long eyelashes. Where most of her relatives look imposing, she is petite and lovely, her frame slender yet noticeably curvaceous. Her hair falls to the waist with shoulder-length locks framing each side of her face, and her eyes are sea-green, recolored blue in Brotherhood. Gentle, droopy eyes set her apart from Olivier's sharp gaze.

Soft-spoken and shy, Cathrine hides the same inherited might as the rest of her clan, strong enough to hoist a piano over her head with a single arm despite her delicate looks. Her tastes mirror the Armstrong reverence for muscle and military service: she openly prefers the company of powerfully built men in the mold of her brother Alex.

Cathrine first turns up in the bonus chapter later adapted as episode 37 of the 2003 anime, where she is introduced to Second Lieutenant Jean Havoc after his transfer to Central City has forced him to end a romance back in East City. Wary of her formidable family at first, Havoc warms to her and the two seem to click, until he asks her out and she gently explains that she only dates muscular men like her brother Alex, leaving him crushed. She resurfaces in Chapter 83 when Olivier orders their father, Philip Armstrong, out of the family mansion; sensing the warning of danger, he departs for Xing with his wife and Cathrine. As Olivier and Alex duel over the estate, Cathrine wishes Alex luck, hinting that she favors him over her eldest sister. The 2009 anime adds that she once foiled Yoki's attempt to burgle the mansion, hurling her piano at him in a panic when he startled her.
