Granzeboma is the war machine the Anti-Spiral summons for the last clash against Team Dai-Gurren. Built deliberately as a dark mirror of the newly born Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, it lets the Anti-Spiral meet its Spiral enemies as equals, the better to break their spirit utterly when they lose.
Granzeboma is the war machine the Anti-Spiral calls up for the final clash against Team Dai-Gurren. It is built on purpose as a dark mirror of the newly born Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, so the Anti-Spiral can meet its Spiral enemies as equals and, by their goal of total despair, make the eventual defeat sting all the more.
Its build calls to mind the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, yet the resemblance is grim: no faces sit on its limbs, the whole frame is dark and skeletal, and a second set of arms sprouts from its shoulders to swarm the enemy. In its brief showing it flashes a Laser Barrage, spitting rapid bursts of red energy from the eyes, mouths, and fingers along with the shining pale spots dotting its body. With the larger shoulder arms it can grab and fling Super Spiral galaxies hard enough to turn them into cutting discs, the Galaxy Shuriken, and it moves fast enough despite its bulk to trade quick blows from every direction. It also grows drills of its own, straighter than a Spiral's and closer to spinning lances.
The crowning attack is the Infinity Big Bang Storm, in which two Super Spiral galaxies are crushed into a single sphere and hurled as an endless Big Bang wave that flings fresh galaxies out from the impact point, rated on the scale of creating a whole universe.
The Anti-Spiral alone pilots the Granzeboma. It opens the duel holding the upper hand over Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, but when it tries to drag Earth away through a super-dimensional gate, the heroes rally and turn the punishment back on it. Enraged by their refusal to quit, the Anti-Spiral unleashes the Infinity Big Bang Storm. The blast rebounds: Lordgenome throws the Lazengann into its path, absorbing the energy and pouring both it and himself into the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann as raw Spiral Power. Fueled by that surge and their own resolve, the pilots fight the Granzeboma to a standstill, and the machine finally falls when Simon and Nia spear the Anti-Spiral's body on Lagann's drill in the Lagann Impact.
The second film adds the Super Granzeboma, a sleeker upgrade built to answer Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann itself; it wields an Anti-Spiral Giga Drill Break and beats that foe, only to be undone once Simon reaches the Anti-Spiral's homeworld and slays its pilot in single combat.
No, Granzeboma is the war machine the Anti-Spiral summons and pilots for the final battle against Team Dai-Gurren, not the Anti-Spiral itself.
Granzeboma appears in Gurren Lagann, summoned by the Anti-Spiral as its war machine for the series' final battle against Team Dai-Gurren.
Granzeboma is deliberately built as a dark mirror of the newly formed Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, letting the Anti-Spiral meet its Spiral enemies as an equal.
Granzeboma's ultimate attack is the Infinity Big Bang Storm, which crushes two Super Spiral galaxies into a single sphere and hurls it as an endless wave rated on the scale of creating a whole universe.
Fueled by Lordgenome's sacrifice, the crew fights Granzeboma to a standstill, and the machine finally falls when Simon and Nia spear the Anti-Spiral's body on Lagann's drill in the Lagann Impact.
