Overview

Illuso, a member of the hit squad La Squadra, commands this long-distance Stand during Part 5. Its named after both a Michael Jackson song and a Human League track. Physically it is no match for most opponents and can barely threaten a person with its bare punches, so its danger lies entirely in ambush.

The Stand wears a purple leotard fastened with visible screws, brown gloves, a full hood, and oversized goggles, its face modeled on a Venetian mask that lends it the air of a tengu. Notably, its design inverts nearly every color and coverage choice of Illuso's own outfit.

Mechanics

The Stand opens a passage into a mirror world, a reversed reflection of reality that holds no living thing and is said to be woven from spiritual energy. Using any reflective surface as a doorway, no matter how tiny, Illuso can haul objects or people inside on his command, and he can even select which part of a target to pull in, as when he trapped only half of a foe to cripple them. Shattering a mirror does not help his enemies, since each fragment simply becomes another opening.

Only those about to be dragged in can perceive the Stand, even if others stare straight at the glass. When a rival Stand user is pulled through, Illuso can bar their Stand from following, leaving it stranded and usable only by remote control, which makes Man in the Mirror all but unbeatable on its home ground. The realm is sealed off so completely that captives cannot be seen or heard, and only the Stand can touch objects within it. Should Illuso perish, the mirror world shatters and everyone imprisoned inside spills free.
