Appearance

The manga keeps this figure's face almost entirely concealed, veiled by shadow, by his flowing dark hair, or by the fold of a heavy robe. In the chapter that recounts his past he appears cloaked and covered in scars, his features never shown. His later appearances view him mostly from behind, sometimes bare-cheeked and sometimes bearing a mustache or a faint beard. He wears a crown of thorns, carries scars across his body, and shows the Holy Wounds on his hands.

Personality

Grave and plainspoken, Jesus carries the quiet authority of a messiah, filling those who encounter him with awe. His Corpse fuses most readily with two figures in particular, Funny Valentine and Lucy Steel, while in his living aspect he seems drawn to Blackmore and to Johnny Joestar, the latter of whom receives a rare piece of personal counsel from him.

History

According to the manga's account, after rising from death Jesus thanks Joseph of Arimathea and sets out eastward, absorbing new tongues and customs until he reaches the sea. With help from locals he builds a ship, crosses over, and lives out his years among a distant people before dying of old age. A great quake and storm then tear his body into nine fragments, which wind, sand, and animals carry across North America to nine marked sites.

Centuries later, during the Steel Ball Run race, those remains are mistaken for the relics of an ordinary saint, and racers pursue the Corpse Parts for deeply personal reasons. The fragments fuse with the matching body parts of anyone who touches them, sometimes awakening a Stand, a power that JoJolion later frames as the ability to remove. The Stand Ticket to Ride, borne by Lucy Steel, is read as the Corpse's own, deflecting misfortune far away.

Blackmore is the first to sense the living Jesus and, awestruck, drops his guard long enough for Lucy to shoot him dead. Later, Johnny is granted crucial advice during his clash with Axl RO, before Funny Valentine seizes all the Corpse Parts. Fleeing with the stolen relics, Lucy finds the Corpse's head lodged within her womb and, though a virgin, becomes pregnant and gains a Stand of her own.
