Ticket to Ride

Ticket to Ride is the completed Saint's Corpse, which gathers within Lucy Steel and takes over her bodily workings in stages. First the Corpse's head lodges inside her womb, letting her wield tear blades and inflict karmic wounds on those nearby. Once the whole Corpse assembles, her skin begins to peel away and expose the Corpse Parts settling inside her. In the final stage she loses consciousness as a steel-like shell spreads over her body, her breathing grows labored, and the Corpse Parts slowly kill her even as the Stand's full power comes alive. Its name reads literally as ticket of tears.

The Stand grants a small set of weak yet useful defensive powers meant to protect Lucy once she becomes the Corpse's host. With Blade of Tears she draws streaks of tears from her eyes and wields them like knives, though the blades crumble the moment they touch a target, so they mainly serve as a threat while marking whoever they strike. That marking opens the target to her core gift, Divine Protection.

Divine Protection shields Lucy from harm by spinning a chain reaction of unlikely coincidences out of her surroundings to undo any attacker, and it can likewise steer a marked target into doing what she wants. When two men try to sedate her, a spilled bottle sends one slipping and the other stumbling onto broken glass, letting her slip free. The effect even reaches lifeless objects: a note she hides on a dock, destroyed by Valentine, is reassembled whole by a run of chance and returned to nearly the same spot. At heart the power bends the fortune of whatever her tears have cut toward the outcome she desires, at least until the Corpse renders her insensible.

Lucy Steel is the sole bearer of Ticket to Ride, which activates only as the Saint's Corpse claims her body during Steel Ball Run. Araki drew the tear-blade concept from the saying that tears are a woman's weapon. The Stand's name went unspoken in the story itself and was later revealed in the JOJOVELLER encyclopedia, hinted at through the arc that shares its title.
