The Rampaging Cyborg

The cyborg takes the form of a humanoid machine with a smooth, plated frame and a ring like a halo encircling its head. Two large black eyes sit in its face. In its present state, a cluster of cables runs from its back to keep it supported.

Genos paints the machine as deranged and beyond control, a thing that levels everything in its path across his town. He suspects a botched body modification warped its mind and left it unstable. Once the mask comes off and Dr. Kuseno stands exposed as the culprit, its true nature matches the scientist himself: scheming, dishonest, and coldly calculating.

Four years before Genos crosses paths with Saitama, the cyborg descends on his hometown, obliterating the place and killing his relatives, with the boy left as the sole survivor. Tracking the same machine, Dr. Kuseno arrives in the ruins and takes Genos in. The creature also earns the label of the Mad Cyborg. Drive Knight later tells Genos that his own village suffered the same fate and pins the machine's creation on Bofoi, though Bofoi flatly rejects the accusation, insisting he devotes himself to shielding humanity and unmasking the force behind The Organization.

The full picture emerges during the Robot Invasion. Bofoi reveals that Kuseno engineered everything, planting false memories in Genos's mind so the young hero would believe a Bofoi-built cyborg had destroyed his home, all to steer him toward vengeance as a pawn. Driven by inner turmoil, Genos races to a laboratory almost against his own will and finds a screen bearing Kuseno's face beside a humanoid robot. Kuseno confesses that he is the Rampaging Cyborg. A past strike from Blast wrecked his cyborg body but spared his brain, and ever since he has rebuilt and upgraded himself, eventually embracing cyberization and a networked cluster of copied personalities so his computing power never fades. He admits he and Bofoi were once classmates and that he stole Bofoi's cyberization technology to fuel his own designs. He then presents Heart Gear as the ultimate Machine God and dares Genos to stop it if he still means to be a hero. When Genos demands to know whether his family was ever real, Kuseno coldly answers that he has deleted such trivial data, and Genos resolves to bring him down.
