The one hundred second chapter steps back into the past, tracing how the orphaned Yasuhisa twins grew up under the CCG's wing alongside the unsettling Juuzou Suzuya before their present-day fight resumes.
The CCG raises children orphaned by ghoul attacks, enrolling them young in its academy's junior school, where many take up martial arts and other pursuits. By eighteen, most sign on to the Ghoul Investigator Training Academy, steered toward careers spent hunting ghouls. Nashiro and Kurona Yasuhisa came up through this system, and they remember first meeting the odd, frequently absent Juuzou Suzuya.
An instructor finds dead stray cats and suspects Juuzou, given his rumored upbringing among ghouls. After a lecture, the twins ask Koutarou Amon whether women can become investigators, and he points to the accomplished Kiyoko Aura and Kasuka Mado, though the pair are dismayed to learn the One-Eyed Owl killed Kasuka. When their friend Shizuku Kawakami dies of illness, they confront Juuzou in the forest over his indifference and spot a dead animal behind him, pegging him as the culprit. In the present, at Kanou's lab, the twins rush Juuzou, who counters and stabs Kurona in the eye.
