Akuma no Mi

Held by Nerona Imu, this fruit lets its owner take on a devil's shape and command a wide spread of demonic abilities that can be handed to others, with the recipients yielding a special hold over their own bodies in return. Its name breaks the usual two-syllable pattern, being a single three-syllable word, and it is homophonous with the everyday Japanese phrase for Devil Fruits, differing only in script; to keep the two apart the VIZ translation uses the possessive form, The Devil's Fruit. Imu's transformation recalls common images of Satan, adding curled horns, a long tattered tail bearing horned skulls, large feathered black wings summoned at will, and a ring of black flame studded with sixteen eyes matching his own.

Given the singular name, it is uncertain the fruit can be sorted like a normal one, though its transformation and esoteric range strongly resemble the Mythical Zoan class. The user flies on manifestable wings and weaponizes the piercing tail, which is tough enough to block Zoro's Supreme King Haki blades. A floating grimoire conjures dark matter that hardens into weapons, and a telekinetic force can strike and redirect at a distance. Central to the fruit are its granted systems: an immortal body that shrugs off even Haki-laced blows, the Abyss magic circles that teleport and summon, and the Covenant marks that lend others the fruit's powers while giving Imu obedience, telepathy, and even outright possession over them. He can also warp unwilling victims into demons of enhanced strength, and the Omen black flame serves as attack, defense, and support alike.

Imu is the fruit's holder, but because he stays hidden, its powers surface most often through the subordinates he grants Covenants, chiefly the Five Elders and the Knights of God. He runs a three-tier Covenant scheme of Shallows, Depths, and Abyssal levels, and in the rare instances he acts personally he possesses a covenantee already on the scene. He seldom fights directly, preferring to blow up foes with small demonic projectiles or to convert his enemies into obedient demons, yet when forced to engage he dispatches attackers swiftly, blocking Zoro with his tail and gigantifying to clash evenly with the giant Loki. His techniques include A Kuwaru, which transforms a target into a demon, its companion Domi Reversi, and the Omen-forged blades Nemesis, Tzitzimitl, and Gram.
