キャラクター体のどこからでもトゲを生やしたり、手足を一本のトゲのように硬化させたりできるのが、この超人（パラミシア）系の能力である。食べた者はいわゆる「棘人間」となる。バロックワークスの暗殺者であるミス・ダブルフィンガーことザラは、これを殺害に特化した残忍な近接戦闘の武器として用いた。
Overview
Named for toge, the Japanese word for spike, and known abroad as the Spike-Spike Fruit, this Paramecia power reshapes its eater into a Spike Human. Arms, feet, facial features, even strands of hair can bristle with long sharp points or stiffen wholesale into a spear. The fruit went to Zala, once an agent of Baroque Works operating under the codename Miss Doublefinger.
Mechanics
The thorns are ferociously hard, punching through solid rock without effort, which strips an opponent of safe cover, since a wall gives no shelter when the points simply drill through it. They also extend at great velocity, hard to dodge, and they serve as defense at close range, because anyone who forces against them tends to be wounded, as Nami learned when she skewered and bloodied her own foot trying to shove her attacker back.
For movement the wielder sprouts spikes on the soles to lengthen her stride or to pin herself upside down against a ceiling for ambushes, and she can curl into a spiked ball to charge. Weaknesses do exist: snaring the user in cloth jams the points and forces a retraction, and Zala displayed no ranged options, so a foe who holds distance and strikes from beyond the spikes' reach can stymie her. The usual fruit vulnerabilities apply on top of that.
Notable Users
Zala relied on the power for combat and assassination alike, stabbing enemies with spiked hands and fingers while boasting that any part of her could turn deadly. A seasoned killer, her thrusts came fast and lethal, though Nami repeatedly lured her into striking illusions during their clash. She also improvised, drilling makeshift doorways through walls and walking on foot-spikes to move quicker or dangle from above.
Her repertoire runs from Double Stinger and Stinger Finger, rapid stabs and slashes with spiked hands and fingers, through Stinger Hedgehog, a sea-urchin ball that drops onto or rolls over targets, to Sewing Stinger, foot-stilts that shred whatever she runs across. Sea Urchin Stinger converts her hair into a charging spiked mass, and Toge Toge Doping has her jab her own shoulders to bloat her arms into huge muscle, which she then swings as clubs in the follow-up Stinger Flail.
