Enigma

Terunosuke Miyamoto controls Enigma, a dark humanoid Stand marked with pale patterns shaped like question marks across its body, along with round dotted eyes and heart-shaped kneepads. Colored versions of both the manga and anime present it entirely in purple. It has almost no strength for open combat, yet its uncanny knack for trapping targets in paper makes it hard to defeat and harder to escape.

Enigma turns objects and living things, its own user included, into sheets of paper. As long as a sheet stays folded the target remains sealed away, and unfolding it, which anyone can do, sets the captive free. Whatever state the trapped thing was in holds steady while the paper stays whole, but tearing or harming the sheet inflicts an equal wound on whatever is stored inside.

Simple objects and animals can be sealed on the spot. Capturing a person is trickier: Terunosuke must first study the nervous habit they fall into when frightened, and only after he has watched them repeat that tell often enough to be certain of it can the Stand snare them the next time it appears. During the change, part of the target literally becomes paper while the remainder is drawn in gradually, leaving a pattern that recalls the artwork of Escher. There is no real limit on what can be folded away, from fresh noodles and lit fire to a loaded gun or a whole taxi with its driver still inside.

Terunosuke can also flip himself into paper in an instant, which lets him slip past attacks, drift about to reposition, and revert whenever he chooses.

Terunosuke Miyamoto is Enigma's only wielder, relying on its sealing power to compensate for a Stand that offers him practically nothing in a straight fight.
