Appearance

Terunosuke stands at roughly average height with a slim build and a medium skin tone. His pale eyes sit beneath light hair arranged in a crossing pattern that frames his face and curls up at the tips. He wears a long, light coat fastened only to mid-chest over a dark top bound with three ornate belts and snug dark trousers, with the word ENIGMA printed along the coat's inner hem.

Personality

Fear fascinates him to the point of obsession. He admits he attacked purely to witness his victims' tells, and each success makes him more cocky. People register to him as mere objects, whether he is holding Tomoko Higashikata hostage to bait Josuke, stashing a cab driver away for later, or endlessly taunting his prey; he insists he means no harm even as he threatens lives to frighten them. That bravado is brittle, though, and a losing position quickly turns him to groveling. His own dread shows plainly, since he shuts one eye when nervous and both when truly terrified.

History

Yoshihiro Kira stabbed Terunosuke with the Arrow to grant his Stand, Enigma, and pointed him at Koichi. Enigma works by pinpointing the involuntary reaction a target makes when afraid, which lets Terunosuke seal that person inside a sheet of paper and imprison them once it is folded, while objects can be captured with no such condition. He ambushes Koichi on his way home, seals him, then breaks into Tomoko Higashikata's house and turns her into paper as well.

Guided by Yuya Fungami's sharp nose, Josuke tracks the culprit down. Terunosuke uses Tomoko as a decoy and hides inside a page before revealing himself, explaining his ability, and trapping Josuke the instant fear makes him bite his lip. Sparing Yuya, he summons a sealed taxi to slip away, only for Yuya to give chase with Highway Star. The pursuit leads into a cab rigged with folded papers that spring fire, scorpions, acid, electricity, and a shredder, and Yuya at last shows his own fear sign, triggering Enigma. In that same moment, however, Yuya had grabbed Josuke's and Koichi's papers, so sealing him releases them, and Josuke swiftly beats Terunosuke down. Crazy Diamond reshapes him into a book that is filed away in a library's restricted section, where his voice is rumored to still murmur from the pages.
