Purple Haze

Standing close to Fugo in height and build, Purple Haze wears a body checkered in alternating light and dark lozenges, armored at the shoulders, elbows, and knees, with spikes down its back and a beak-like Roman-style visor over its face. The anime redesign adds a flowing cape and wraps it in purple mist. Its temperament is as volatile as its master's, prone to snarled ramblings and bursts of rage, yet oddly it is also a compulsive cleaner, scrubbing its own drool until it bruises its arm, and in a fight it lets out its signature roar of "Ubashaaaa!!!"

As a melee Stand it hits hard at short range, shattering stone with its fists, though its reach caps at about five meters. What makes it feared is the killer virus sealed inside three bulbs on each hand. When a bulb bursts, usually on impact, the virus billows out as a cloud of purple gas, and the Stand can also fire the bulbs from its knuckles like a pressurized gun to shatter at a distance.

Any living thing caught in the cloud is infected at once. The virus breeds explosively inside the body, seizes control of its metabolism, and rots it away, dissolving a grown adult into organic sludge within about thirty seconds. Its saving weakness is fragility: the range is short, and sunlight or any bright source kills the virus fast. Because it makes no distinction between allies and enemies, and not even Fugo is immune, it endangers his own comrades, and it can infect Stands as well. Even so, an organism bearing the right antibodies can endure it, which is how Giorno, after forming a snake from a virus-soaked brick, harvests antibodies to craft a vaccine and save himself.

Purple Haze is wielded by Pannacotta Fugo, who seldom calls on it because of its reckless danger. It also stars alongside Fugo in the novels Golden Heart, Golden Ring and Purple Haze Feedback, the latter introducing its evolved form.
