Overview

The Stand is a set of six little bullet-shaped beings, whom Mista calls people, that dwell inside his revolver. They carry numbers one through seven with four skipped over, a nod to Mista's superstition. Each has a teardrop-shaped head, pale outlined eyes, and minuscule pupils, and they often bare crooked teeth when their mouths open. Their outfits run to pointed shoulder pads, snug knee-padded trousers, and curl-toed shoes, and each hand oddly carries only four fingers. Most depictions color them orange or yellow, while the PS2 game turns them white.

Rare among Stands, every Pistol has its own temperament and chats freely with Mista, and outside of combat he does not actually direct them. All of them share a bratty, mischievous streak: they bicker, blurt out rude remarks, and refuse to work unless they are fed. No.1 leads the group and tends to be fired first, cheerful by nature; No.2 plays the rogue but partners with No.1, marked by a goggle-like bar across its eyes; No.3 is spiteful and torments No.5; No.5 is a timid weeper hounded by No.3, yet its habit of hanging back often leaves it the last one standing and thus the one that keeps Mista alive; No.6 looks the most menacing with a V-shaped brow and is violent toward foes though never its allies; and No.7 resembles No.1 with round eyes and a taste for taking the lead.

Mechanics

Like Bad Company and Harvest, the Pistols form a collective that is frail on its own, so they depend on the bullets they ride to fight. They are strikingly independent and reach as far as a bullet can travel, which lets Mista command the field, scout foes from a distance, and even leave the Pistols to make their own calls when a chance appears. The Stand is durable enough to keep going while Mista lies near death, still aiding his companions, though the Pistols are exposed to harm while they are out in the open. Even so, Mista endures ferocious punishment to the six of them so long as a single member stays unhurt.

Their headline power is to mount the bullets Mista shoots, hover them over a chosen spot, and then boot them hard to alter their course, letting him ricochet rounds into moving targets or strike from wild, unforeseen angles. When all six pile onto one bullet and kick together, they can split it into several separate projectiles. They also block incoming rounds, and on one occasion No.5 shielded Mista from three point-blank shots to the head fired by Prosciutto. Mista can even loose two bullets at once, generally understood as a Pistol striking a second chamber's primer as he fires. Their reflexes and awareness run extremely high, enough to pick out the members hidden in the train cartridge while streaking along on a bullet. On top of all this, the Pistols reload his gun for him, and a six-chamber revolver lets them refill every slot together far faster than stuffing a magazine, though they can drive any firearm and can even fire a bullet with no gun at all by kicking its primer.
