Overview

The Stand cuts a humanoid figure dressed in something like spiked football padding, a towel slung across its shoulders marked with a dollar sign at one end and a yen sign at the other, echoing Okuyasu's own money-themed style. Blinders sit beside its headlight-shaped eyes and narrow its sight, a nod to how impulsive its user is. The inside of its right hand carries spiderweb lines and a pair of bumps on the palm, details that only turned up in later chapters. It is usually drawn white, clad in blue armor trimmed with gold.

Mechanics

Built for close combat, the Stand can grapple on par with Crazy Diamond even if it lacks that Stand's speed, and its core trick closely mirrors Cream's. Whatever its right palm crosses during a sweep of the arm is wiped clean out of existence, whether solid material or space itself, and Okuyasu admits even he has no idea where the erased things end up. What it removes looks as though an impossibly keen blade passed through it. The hollow left behind cannot hold, so reality instantly closes and stitches itself shut using whatever space and objects sit next to it, erasing any sign the target was ever there; when he once wiped the middle out of a NO TRESPASSING sign, it resealed to read NO PASSING.

That knack for deleting and refilling space hands the otherwise short-ranged Stand real reach, since it can strip out the distance between itself and a target to yank them closer, or pull Okuyasu across to them, a move he likes to call teleportation. The stitching has limits, though: sweeping through the ground during his brawl with Red Hot Chili Pepper left craters behind, hinting the effect cannot mend everything. Its weaknesses follow from its design, since the erasure lives only in the palm and demands a swing, so a foe can seize the arm to stop it, as Crazy Diamond did, and a fast enough Stand like Red Hot Chili Pepper can simply dodge.

Okuyasu Nijimura carries the Stand through the Morioh conflict. Josuke Higashikata judged the space-erasing power terrifying in theory, only to note that Okuyasu's dull thinking keeps it from reaching its full menace.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Hand Stand in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure?

The Hand is Okuyasu Nijimura's Stand in Diamond is Unbreakable, a spiked, armored fighter whose right palm erases whatever it sweeps across, whether solid matter or empty space. The erased gap instantly seals itself, hiding any trace the target was ever there.

Is The Hand one of the strongest Stands in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure?

The Hand's erasing power is fearsome enough to rank among the strongest Stands in Diamond is Unbreakable. Josuke Higashikata judged it terrifying in theory, but noted that Okuyasu Nijimura's dull thinking keeps it from reaching its full menace.

How does The Hand give Okuyasu extra reach in a fight?

Because The Hand can erase and instantly reseal space itself, Okuyasu can use it to strip out the distance between himself and a target, yanking them closer or pulling himself to them, which he jokingly calls teleportation. This gives the otherwise short ranged Stand real reach in combat.

What are The Hand's weaknesses?

The Hand's erasing power only lives in its right palm and requires a swing of the arm to activate, so an opponent can stop it by seizing the arm before it connects, as Crazy Diamond did. A fast enough Stand, such as Red Hot Chili Pepper, can also simply dodge the attack.

What happens when The Hand erases something?

When The Hand's palm sweeps across an object or patch of space, it vanishes as if cut away by an impossibly keen blade. Reality instantly stitches the hollow shut using whatever is nearby, so a NO TRESPASSING sign that Okuyasu partly erased resealed to read NO PASSING.
