Koichi Hirose's Mother

Mrs. Hirose keeps her dark hair short in a side-swept pixie cut, framing fairly thick eyebrows and eyes that echo her son's. She is never without lipstick and adds earrings for shopping trips.

Around the house she favors a striped buttoned shirt worn with a skirt and slippers, plus a small heart-decorated triangular brooch pinned near her collar, while errands see her in a vest over a long-sleeved top with light trousers and a purse in hand.

Lively and openly friendly, Koichi's mother greets strangers with the same warmth she shows family, letting Tamami into her home, gushing over Rohan Kishibe, and getting on well with her son's friends. She is a regular at the Salon Glance hair parlor and calls Koichi 'Ko-chan.'

That same trust leaves her gullible, and Tamami's lies land easily. When The Lock feeds her guilt, she spirals to the brink of taking her own life over the thought that she raised a thief and an attacker, until her unshakable belief that Koichi could never hurt anyone sets her free.

Tamami arrives with a fabricated tale about returning money Koichi supposedly dropped and is invited in to wait. Once Koichi is home, Tamami accuses him of swapping wallets and claims one held over 500,000 yen, piling on guilt until The Lock forms on Mrs. Hirose's chest; he even hints at taking the family's mortgage.

She and Ayana are shoved from the room, and a scream brings her back to find Tamami bleeding with a knife in Koichi's hand, which swells The Lock further. Overwhelmed, she raises a blade against herself, but Koichi imprints 'Believe me!' on her with Echoes, and her guilt lifts.

Later, out shopping with Ayana, she runs into Koichi and Rohan, fawns over the famous mangaka, and tags along to the Kameyu department store, much to Yukako's irritation.
