Ryuuta Sawaike

Sawaike has a long, oval face marked by prominent lips, with dark hair trimmed into a short bowl cut and round spectacles perched on his nose. He wears the investigators' standard uniform, a dark suit beneath a white cape.

Not much of Sawaike's nature is spelled out, though one trait stands clear. He acts on impulse without thinking it through, a tendency that surfaces when he watches his commander fall and loses his composure, opening fire on the culprit in a reckless outburst that draws lethal attention straight onto himself.

Sawaike serves among the advance units during the operation to clear the auction, fighting alongside Ooshiba's group and a team of Quinx. His squad takes on a bald ghoul swinging an enormous koukaku kagune, and once that enemy falls, Sawaike sees his superior Daisuke Atou struck down by a mysterious black-robed ghoul. Overcome, he empties his weapon at the attacker and is killed in return, his head torn away by Seidou Takizawa. He was one of the twenty winners of a recruitment campaign whose likenesses were used to model minor investigators.
