Crystallize is what Yu Hojo brings to a fight: hard mineral spurs forced out of his skin until they sheathe him entirely. They arrive almost the instant he wants them, double as armor and as a blade, and are worth precisely nothing to anyone who tries to cash them in.
Given in Japanese as Kesshō, this Transformation Quirk works at close quarters and first appears in Chapter 140, carried over to the anime in Episode 71. Its purpose is straightforward: cover the holder in a shell of crystal grown from his own body.
Large numbers of crystals sprout from the user until his skin disappears beneath them. Speed is the first advantage, since the growth is close to instantaneous, and toughness is the second, as the formations hold up well under punishment. No part of Yu's body seems off limits as a launch point.
Reach is the other application. He can drive the crystals into the shape of a sword sheathing his arm, which is how he goes after Tamaki Amajiki, extending his effective range well past his fists.
Yu Hojo is the sole holder, and the trade-offs shape his habits. Dense as the crystals are, they still break under enough force. He keeps his scalp shaved, which points to hair getting in the way of clean growth, and the spurs shred whatever he happens to be wearing when they emerge.
There is also no profit in them. By Yu's own account the crystals carry no financial value at all, a fact established when someone salvaged a batch hoping to sell them and discovered they were fakes.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
Crystallize is a Transformation Quirk used by the villain Yu Hojo in My Hero Academia. It covers his body in a shell of hard mineral crystals that grow directly from his skin, working at close range.
Yu Hojo is the only known user of Crystallize in My Hero Academia. He first appears with the quirk in Chapter 140 of the manga and Episode 71 of the anime.
Yu Hojo grows crystals almost instantly across his body for speed and protection, and he can shape them into a blade sheathing his arm to extend his reach. He used this sword form to attack Tamaki Amajiki.
Despite their toughness, Yu Hojo's crystals can still break under enough force. Growing them also destroys his clothing and forces him to keep his head shaved so hair does not interfere.
No, the crystals produced by Crystallize have no financial value. Someone once tried to sell a salvaged batch, only to discover they were worthless fakes.
