Navel Laser

Navel Laser, or Nebiru Rēzā, is a long-range Emitter Quirk introduced back in Chapter 3 and Episode 3. Yuga Aoyama is its public face, but the ability reached him as a gift from All For One, who had taken it off someone else entirely long before. That transaction is the root of nearly every problem the Quirk causes him.

Late in the Final War, with Kunieda's Plant Quirk close to killing him, the power Awakens and jumps in strength. The intensified light is potent enough to make Toru Hagakure's Invisibility glitch. No Quirk Awakens after this one; Yuga's is the last such case anywhere in the story.

The beams emerge from the user's navel, sparkling as they go, and Yuga can tune them across short and long distances alike. Recoil is strong enough to fling him through the air at speed. He also shapes the output at will, thinning it to a hairline or forging it into a swingable blade of light. The energy chews through metal and punches clean through concrete, yet it does not appear to kill.

Not every use is offensive. The glow lights up dark spaces during rescue work and doubles as a signal flare, letting scattered allies find him instantly, which cuts both ways since enemies can read it just as easily and it makes fine bait.

The drawbacks are severe. His body was never built to house this power, so it leaks out on its own, and only the Sparkle Belt keeps it aimed; strip the belt away and he can still fire, just wildly and at nothing in particular. He has worn the equipment since childhood. Sustained fire wrecks him internally past about a second, with prolonged overuse costing him control of his bowels, though hard training at U.A. steadily extends his duration, his number of shots, and his power ceiling. Because the beam only travels forward in a straight line, his flanks and back are wide open, which is why his costume routes the energy through lenses set around his body.

Yuga Aoyama treats the Quirk as performance art, striking poses with his arms tucked behind his head while he shoots, and his fine control is precise enough to write with the beam. He leans on the recoil to vault obstacles, an imperfect trick that regularly leaves him grounded, defenseless, and in pain once the Quirk's limits catch up. His hero costume carries the energy to extra ports at the shoulders and knees. To bury the truth of being born Quirkless, he explained away the backlash and poor control as a birth defect. The concept itself nods to the X-Men's Cyclops, another character who fires beams from an opening in his body and cannot manage them without a device he must never remove. The Quirk even has its own sound effect, "THOOM".

His named techniques include Navel Buffet☆Laser, a rapid volley from his navel and his shoulder ports at once that strains him harder than normal use; Navel Saber, which packs the energy into a cutting blade fixed at his bellybutton; Supernova, a five-second charge that unloads a far heavier beam alongside smaller shots from his shoulders and knees; and Warp Refraction: Navel Laser, in which he lets the uncontrolled beam loose for Toru Hagakure to bend, scattering blinding, damaging light in every direction. All For One held the Quirk before passing it on, and the unnamed original owner precedes them both.
