Crust earned the title Shield Hero honestly. His Quirk stacked hexagonal plates out of his own body, sized on demand, tough enough to hold off High-End Nomu and honed along the rim to cut. He could throw them, leave them buried in a target, or spread them across an entire team.
Shield was the transformation Quirk used by the Pro Hero Crust. Rated for medium range, it entered the manga around Chapter 261 and reached the anime in Episode 115.
The Quirk pushed stone-like hexagons out of the user's body, and they assembled into barriers that served in attack as readily as in defense. Because the shapes multiplied rapidly in layers, Crust could settle on whatever dimensions the moment called for.
Durability was the headline trait, since the barriers shrugged off a broad spread of offensive Quirks. Their rims, though, were sharpened to an edge, and any plate could be separated from his body and hurled, becoming a mid to long-range projectile or cover for someone standing elsewhere.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
Crust handled the ability with rare precision, generally growing a plate off his arm at exactly the right shape the instant he needed it, and the nickname Shield Hero followed from that command. Up close he drove oversized plates into enemies and then released them so the shields stayed lodged inside the wound. From a distance his Ultimate Move, Shoot Shield, sent a spinning detached plate hard enough to stagger a large High-End Nomu.
On defense he blocked strikes from the potent Quirks the High-Ends carried, and his physical strength let him pin down opponents with far more mass than his own, leaving them open for allies to punish. His control ran far enough to build long, uncanny formations from rows of hexagons that stretched past anything shaped like a normal shield, screening every teammate nearby while still covering himself. For extra insurance he kept thin layers wrapped around his legs and torso.
Shield is used by the Pro Hero Crust, whose nickname, Shield Hero, comes directly from the ability. It is a transformation Quirk that pushes hexagonal plates out of his body.
The Shield Quirk lets Crust generate durable, stone-like hexagonal plates from his own body that assemble into barriers. He can adjust their size on the spot and use them for both defense and offense.
Crust's named Ultimate Move is Shoot Shield, which sends a spinning detached plate flying with enough force to stagger a large High-End Nomu.
Yes, Crust can separate a plate from his body and hurl it as a mid to long range projectile, or leave it lodged in an opponent after driving it in up close.
The barriers produced by Crust's Shield Quirk are durable enough to shrug off a wide range of offensive Quirks, including attacks from powerful High-End Nomu.
