Mechanics
The bearer draws her own body parts inward, vanishing them into herself much as a turtle withdraws beneath its shell. Folding in happens almost instantly, quick enough to answer a projectile already traveling at high velocity. Coming back out is another matter: the process is not instantaneous and takes a few seconds, leaving a stretch where she is committed.
