All For One

For most of the story his head is a smooth mass of scar tissue, the legacy of the wound All Might inflicted years earlier. It runs from his upper lip across his skull and down his neck, erasing nose, ears, hair, and eyes, leaving only faint depressions where the sockets sat. Blinded, he navigated by an Infrared Quirk and by reading vibrations. Each palm held a small opening, the channel through which he moved Quirks in and out.

Before that injury he was enormous, well over seven feet and heavily built, with cropped white hair and pale, expressionless eyes the anime first rendered in red. He favored dark suits over white collared shirts, and public outings called for a navy skull mask ribbed with tubes above a broad life-support collar. A Quirk let him soften his features when he wanted to seem harmless, as he did around the Shimura family.

The reverse-engineered Rewind drug restored his prime and then kept going, regressing him from a young man to a luminous child, an infant, a fetus, and finally a single cell before he vanished. His vestige later took Tomura Shigaraki's body, which turned pale, gaunt, and hollow-eyed under his occupancy, with fingers grown over the shoulders and a dark hand clamped across the mouth.

He preferred to operate at a remove, amusing himself with people and discarding them once they stopped being useful. His method during the chaotic early Quirk era was transactional: he handed power to whoever craved it and stripped it from whoever did not want it, always in exchange for obedience, and called the arrangement an effort to restore order. Anyone who refused was purged. Comic books he read as a child supplied the ambition, since the Demon Lord in them ruled through terror and answered to nobody.

His brother Yoichi was the single exception to that indifference, and even it came out warped. He treated Yoichi as property, mocked his frailty, imprisoned him rather than let him go, and killed him without visible regret once he fled. Learning that Yoichi carried a Quirk which had grown into One For All, he spent decades hunting it, wanting his brother back as a possession. Tomura got the same handling in a gentler register: raised, renamed, encouraged as a protege, all so that cultivated rage might one day overwhelm One For All's collective will and leave the body open to him.

Underneath the composure sat a vacancy. Hawks noticed that a man who had chased One For All for a century never seemed to hate its bearers, and guessed something was missing in him. He could not manufacture the grudge his own plan required, because he cared about nothing outside himself. Defiance from people he considered beneath him, Kudo above all, was what actually enraged him. At the end he admitted that becoming a Demon Lord had only ever been about making himself impossible to forget, and he wept as Katsuki Bakugo finished him. Cradling the last embers of Yoichi's vestige, he pleaded against that final disappearance and confessed that he was nothing without him.

His signature Quirk let him strip abilities from others and graft them onto himself or anyone he chose, while Life Force kept him alive for well over a century. Together they made him close to unbeatable: an arsenal that only grew, worn by a man who never aged out of using it. After his last fight with Nana Shimura he settled into a pattern of opening at range to grind opponents down before taking what they carried.

The catalogue ran long. Warping, Search, Air Cannon, Springlike Limbs, Kinetic Booster, Hypertrophy, Rivet Stab, Radio Waves, Infrared, Impure Beam, Dark Ball, Bloodcurdle, and Antigen Swap sat alongside dozens of unnamed powers covering telekinesis, mind control, lie detection, shapeshifting, and force fields. He traded hits with All Might on raw strength, wrecked a factory and four Pro Heroes in an instant on speed, and heard well enough to offset his blindness, though silent Tartarus left him helpless.

Intellect mattered as much as firepower. He ran Japan unseen, tracked every figure of note on both sides, and read opponents for weaknesses, taunting All Might over Nana Shimura and exposing his withered form to the public. Anticipating defeat, he had Kyudai Garaki duplicate his Quirk so the original could still reach Tomura. One thing eluded him permanently: the power he created by accident could not be stolen. His will could seize Tomura's body outright, yet never break the wills stacked inside the prize he wanted most, and that gap decided everything.
