Rings encircle her hazel irises, an echo of the earliest illustrations scientists produced of black holes. Her hair is cut short, navy blue with a blonde section spiraling out from the roots, and a black coating covers her hands and forearms, almost certainly a byproduct of her power. She stands unusually tall at 180cm.

Her working gear reads as an astronaut's outfit rendered in white, though the bulk of it suggests a padded jacket more than genuine spacefaring equipment. A black helmet with white eye lenses hides her head, and yellow boots finish the look. Both the costume and her hero name gesture at Apollo 13, the mission that missed the moon and still brought its crew back alive. The helmet cracked during the Paranormal Liberation War and showed her face publicly for the first time, revealing pale bangs and a light-colored right eye, while the same fighting left both her arms severely damaged. Eight years on, the outfit is unchanged apart from a revised helmet.

Her depiction has shifted across releases. English editions of the manga and the first four School Briefs novels used he/him for her, the anime moved to she/her, and the second databook settled the matter by confirming she is a woman.

She is thoughtful and courteous, and rescue work is where her passion lives. She cared enough about teaching it to build the Unforeseen Simulation Joint herself, a facility dedicated to drilling students in search and recovery.

Her enthusiasm runs toward powers that create and assist rather than break things. She is candid that her own could end a life, and she uses that fact to press her students toward using what they have for good. Courage is not in short supply either: she is not built for combat, yet she has never hesitated to turn her Quirk on villains when other people needed protecting.

Away from the job she likes museums and educational documentaries. She seldom drinks, and on the rare occasions she does she turns chatty, stumbles over her words, and flusters easily.

Black Hole reproduces the pull of its namesake out of her palms. The draw is strong enough that light cannot escape it, and whatever the suction takes is reduced to dust.

Her gloves exist to keep that in check. Their fingertips hinge open individually, and the number she uncovers sets how much of the Quirk she brings to bear, which lets her scale a lethal power down to something usable. During the first term final exams she and the other teachers also wore High Density Weights, bracelets meant to handicap them against their own students.
