Appearance

What people usually see is a suit he is possessing rather than wearing: a stubby black cloak with short arm and leg protrusions and the Shie Hassaikai's white plague mask stitched across the front where a face ought to be.

Out of it he stands tall and heavily muscled. His features come to points, a spiked nose, a squared chin that runs long, a mouth on the large side. Blond hair spikes up at some length, matched by a goatee. Underneath the cloak he dresses like the yakuza he is: dress shirt, pinstriped trousers, suspenders.

Personality

Running the organization's business falls to him, and he is regularly shown with stacks of bills in hand, which suggests the books are his as well. Like the rest of the Eight Bullets he belongs to Overhaul completely and turns violent the moment anyone talks down to his boss. His temper is short and it runs him, even when losing it costs him the one real advantage he has, which is not being found.

History

Mimicry folds him, mind and body both, into any object up to the size of a refrigerator and hands him full control of it, and Trigger stretches that ceiling to an entire underground complex.

He arrives at the confrontation with the League of Villains riding another member's shoulders, and mocks Tomura Shigaraki for walking away. Later, seated beside Kai and counting money, he sits in on the meeting with Tomura at the base, defends the tunnel network as the reason the yakuza have survived, and the moment Tomura's hand goes into his jacket, Joi's arm shoots out of the cloak to seize him while Chronostasis puts a gun to his head. Overhaul calls them both off.

When the raid begins and the police pour into the compound alongside the Pro Heroes, Joi doses himself and takes the tunnels. Mirio Togata phases out, but the rest drop through the floor, cut off from the police column. He tries to isolate Shota Aizawa; Fat Gum and Eijiro Kirishima shove Shota clear and go through the wall instead. He wrings the labyrinth around Izuku, cuts the raiders into two separate pockets so Himiko Toga and Twice can engage them, then drops a wall to cover the pair when they need out.

Himiko and Twice insult him until he wants them crushed, and in twisting the tunnels so they can hear him better he tells Izuku exactly where he is. Izuku smashes through, Aizawa erases Mimicry, and Joi spills onto the floor while the two villains wave goodbye. Sir Nighteye finishes it with a Hyper-Density Seal and Izuku catches him. Tied up and lucid again, he was still screaming about the pair betraying them, and the police took him away once the fighting ended.
