Mitsuki Bakugo

The spiky ash-blonde hair and the red eyes are hers first; Katsuki simply inherited both. Glycerin keeps her complexion in shape well past what her late thirties would suggest, so she reads far younger than her age. Around the house she turns up in reddish purple slippers, a black skirt cut short, and a lavender cardigan thrown over a white blouse. The Paranormal Liberation War marks the point where she cropped her hair back to roughly chin length.

Loud, blunt, and quick to escalate, she is the obvious source of her son's worst habits. The difference is that she can switch it off. She is calm and courteous by default, gets on well with her husband, and treated the U.A. staff with respect even in the aftermath of Katsuki's kidnapping.

She also sees him clearly. Talent came easily to him, his Quirk was strong, and adults fawned over every small thing he did throughout childhood. Mitsuki knows that combination produced the arrogance, and she disapproves of it enough to smack him repeatedly in front of visiting teachers. None of that means she wants him doing anything else. She wants him to become a Pro Hero, she is grateful the school believes he can, and she was relieved to hear his instructors describe him in terms of tenacity rather than aggression.

Mitsuki is married to Masaru Bakugo and is Katsuki's mother, and the family lives as civilians. Glycerin lets her secrete the substance through her skin, and its moisturizing effect accounts for the complexion she has held onto.

She first appears in person when U.A. staff visit the family home to propose moving the students into school housing, and she sits at the center of the household's arguments over her son from that point onward. Her given name is written with the kanji for light and for self, the second of which Katsuki carries in his own. Volleyball is her stated interest.
