Eighty-five centimeters of white fur in a waistcoat runs U.A. High School as its principal. Nezu counts among the vanishingly few animals ever to manifest a Quirk, and the one he got handed him an intellect beyond any human's. The scientists who experimented on him before that left a grudge he is happy to work out on the battlefield.
A scar runs over his right eye, the first thing most people notice on a small stoat-like creature covered in white fur. His eyes are round and black, his ears roughly rectangular with pale pink interiors, angled out from the crown of his head, and his muzzle is elongated with a small round nose at the end. Pink pads mark his paws, and his tail is thin. Pressed on what he actually is, he answers with all three options at once: some combination of dog, mouse, and bear.
His clothing is exactly what a principal wears: white dress shirt, dark red tie, black double-breasted waistcoat, matching dress pants. The one break in the formality sits on his feet: orange lace-up sneakers whose soles are thick enough to look comically oversized on him, near copies of the pair Izuku Midoriya favors.
Eccentric, polite, and stubbornly devoted to teaching, he suits the job. He knows perfectly well how strange he looks and gets ahead of it, leading his introductions with the joke. Get him started on education and he does not stop: he composed an entire lecture on balancing the roles of hero and instructor and delivered it happily to All Might over tea. That commitment reaches across the law, too, since he studies villains, especially young ones, and wonders aloud whether the right teaching could have redirected them, while conceding how naive the thought is.
He does not hide behind the office. Student safety is what he optimizes for, and he will put himself in danger over it. Then there is what humans did to him. Years of abuse and experimentation left something that only surfaces once a fight starts, when Nezu stops being the polite administrator and begins enjoying himself, toying with human opponents with a glee that reads as unhinged and genuinely unpredictable. He has never let the grudge go.
High Specs gave him an intelligence that outstrips any human's, and remade his body enough that an animal can live an ordinary life with it. Being an animal also comes with sharper hearing and smell than a person gets.
Strategy is where the Quirk shows. For the First Term Final Exam he climbed into an industrial crane and used a wrecking ball on Mina Ashido and Denki Kaminari's surroundings, dropping structures in chain reactions calculated to seal every exit but one and rain rubble on the pair. Neither ever got to look for the remaining gate, because he had them running from collapse the whole time, and the clock ran out.
He is also enormously wealthy, and paid to upgrade U.A.'s defenses himself. Those defenses are his other specialty. The U.A. Barrier throws up walls against anyone lacking a visitor pass or student ID, and after the Paranormal Liberation War he rebuilt the grounds into shelters that detach into an underground network and shuttle between safe zones, a system he treats as a game board. Three thousand layers of bulwark plating separate the surface from those shelters, splitting and stalling anything the system flags. Against Himiko Toga specifically, anyone seeking refuge waits long enough for her transformation window to expire before being let in.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
Nezu's Quirk is High Specs, which gave him an intelligence far beyond any human's and reshaped his small animal body so it could function normally despite the enhancement.
Nezu's trauma comes from years of abuse and experimentation he endured at the hands of human scientists before becoming U.A.'s principal. That grudge only shows once a fight starts, when his usual polite manner gives way to an unsettling enjoyment of toying with human opponents.
No, Nezu was never human. He is one of the rare animals in the series to manifest a Quirk, and he describes his own species as some combination of dog, mouse, and bear.
Nezu is a small, stoat-like white-furred creature who, when asked what species he is, answers that he is some combination of dog, mouse, and bear.
Nezu serves as the principal of U.A. High School, where his strategic mind and immense personal wealth also fund the school's defenses, including the U.A. Barrier and an underground shelter network built after the Paranormal Liberation War.
