All Might flattens a motorcycle-chewing villain in Naruhata with one Detroit Smash and leaps off with him, leaving nineteen-year-old Koichi Haimawari staring after him. Late for class, Koichi ducks into an alley and meets three thugs, whose leader Soga pours out his soda, blames him, and makes him grovel. Koichi slips the follow-up kick with a Kowtow Evasion and coasts away on Slide and Glide, the Quirk that moves him along any surface he keeps three points of contact with. It is barely faster than a bicycle, and bystanders call him a cockroach. That evening he watches a guerrilla performance by Pop☆Step, unimpressed by her singing yet struck by how much she shines, and afterward Soga's crew drags him out of his convenience store shift and beats him for running.

Fed up with the police, Koichi pulls on an All Might hoodie, gloves, and a face mask and spends the night sliding around, handing back dropped belongings and pointing strangers where to go, work locals credit to "Nice Guy". Pop☆Step stops him, hands him a soda, and mocks the hoodie as bad All Might cosplay; he admits imitating the man is how he tries to be useful. His warning that the police may come for her idol act annoys her into a swing that lands on Soga, standing behind them with his crew. They shove Pop against a wall and threaten to post photos of her uncovered face. Koichi is told to get lost, sees her terrified expression, and intervenes anyway; the attack does nothing and he is thrown aside. Soga kicks him with a spiked shoe and promises to wreck him and his workplace, then strip Pop and upload the pictures, purely because Koichi annoyed him.

As Pop screams for the police, a big man in a trench coat and bandana, brass knuckles on his fists, lands in a pile of trash bags. All Might is not coming, he agrees, because he is here instead. He puts Soga down with one punch, names himself Knuckleduster, drops the other two, and checks their tongues. He offers to make Koichi a hero, arguing that powers and certification are beside the point and only the willingness to act matters, and Koichi realizes he is facing a vigilante. When an injured Soga grabs Pop and threatens to slice her face, Koichi slides in and tackles him before Knuckleduster finishes the job.

The thugs stagger off and a scarred man offers them three vials in the road; injected, the substance warps their bodies and Quirks. Back at the penthouse, Knuckleduster lays out his hunt for the source of Trigger, a drug that inflates a Quirk while stripping away reason and turns people into Instant Villains, which heroes and police cannot handle because users erupt in crowded places without warning. Trigger blackens the tongue, so he wants Koichi checking mouths. The next evening he corners a salaryman whose briefcase spills hero figurines from his toy company job, means to hit the man regardless just to be certain, and a strip of cloth snags his wrist: Eraser Head has arrived.

Koichi Haimawari is introduced along with his Quirk, Slide and Glide, and his "Nice Guy" persona. Pop☆Step meets him properly for the first time. Knuckleduster debuts, rescues both from Soga Kugisaki, Moyuru Tochi, and Rapt Tokage, and reveals his tongue-checking hunt for the source of Trigger. The scarred man later known as Number 6 supplies the thugs with the drug. Eraser Head arrives at the close.

The episode adapts most of Chapter 1 plus the opening ten pages of Chapter 2, airing 7 April 2025 with a same-day dub, set to the opening Kekka Alright and the ending Speed.

Izuku Midoriya narrates the anime's prologue, which shows more heroes using their Quirks, and the manga's in media res opening on the climax of the Mario fight is dropped. All Might debuts announcing himself from a rooftop rather than shooting down from mid-air, and Koichi is late for class rather than work. A police lecture about street Quirk use is cut, the first meeting with Soga's crew moves from the street into an alley, and Kowtow Evasion goes unnamed. Pop's performance is pushed to the evening and her full song plays, and Inko Midoriya's cameo uses her younger, taller look.

In the alley, Pop's swing at Koichi accidentally hits Soga, where the manga has her bump into him while storming off. The threats are flipped, with exposure first and the stripping added after he intervenes. Most notably, Number 6 rather than Mario hands over the Trigger, introducing him far earlier; Soga doses himself alongside the other two instead of waiting until he meets Koichi again, and footage of the enhanced trio rampaging is added. Knuckleduster's penthouse conversation happens the same night rather than the next morning.
