In Each of Our Hearts

Up in the Mountain Zone, Denki is seized by Tesla, a villain his charge did nothing to, who threatens to kill him unless the others give up and admits a fondness for electric types besides. Momo recognizes him as the source of the jamming, and Kyoka stalls with conversation while working an earphone jack toward one of her leg-mounted amplifiers. The trick is spotted, and both girls surrender.

Below, All Might has put Nomu down but has nothing left, immobilized and bluffing. Tomura nearly breaks, convinced the Symbol of Peace cannot be killed, until Kurogiri reads the damage and talks him back into it. They charge, and Izuku shatters his legs with One For All to reach them, only for Kurogiri to warp Tomura's hand out beside his face. A bullet takes Tomura's arm before the fingers close. Snipe has arrived with Tenya and the rest of the faculty; the second shot frees Denki. The heroes fan out and mop up. Outnumbered, Tomura calls the mission finished, takes several more rounds, and is dragged out through Kurogiri's warp despite Thirteen's pull.

Izuku beats himself up over accomplishing nothing, and All Might tells him those seconds were his life. Eijiro is steered away from the scene by Cementoss before he can glimpse the withered form, and sent to gather the class at the exit.

At the hideout, a battered Tomura complains that the intel about All Might's decline was wrong. A voice from a dead monitor corrects him: the report was accurate, he was simply reckless. A second voice asks after Nomu, and Kurogiri admits he could not retrieve him. The first tells Tomura to gather the best of the villain world, promising the world will fear him in time.

Outside, Naomasa Tsukauchi reports that Izuku alone was seriously hurt and that Thirteen and Eraser Head, though critical, will live. He heads to the nurse's office with word that Nomu is in custody, where All Might introduces him as his closest friend on the force and the man who knows everything. All Might brushes off Izuku's thanks in favor of praising the class, certain they will make fine pros. That night Izuku leaves the infirmary patched up and walks home with Ochaco and Tenya. On a rooftop somewhere, a figure looks out over the city.

The U.A. faculty arrive and end the U.S.J. Incident, with Snipe shooting both Tomura and the villain holding Denki. Tomura and Kurogiri escape; Nomu is captured by the police. All Might survives thanks to the seconds Izuku bought by breaking his legs, and Cementoss shields his weakened form from the students.

All For One speaks to Tomura for the first time, instructing him to assemble the villain elite. Naomasa Tsukauchi is introduced as All Might's confidant on the police force. Thirteen and Eraser Head are confirmed critically injured but out of danger, and Stain appears in a rooftop cameo.

The season one finale adapts chapter 20 and most of 21, airing 26 June 2016 in Japan with a United States broadcast on 4 August 2018. THE DAY opens and HEROES closes.

Ectoplasm and Present Mic take part in the brawl here, which the manga does not depict, and Clones and Voice both surface earlier than in the source, where the Quirks debut during the Final Exams Arc. Stain's appearance is likewise pulled forward from the end of the Sports Festival Arc. A shot of Thirteen in a hospital bed accompanies Naomasa's report, and a scene is added of Katsuki resenting Izuku for rushing in to save All Might.
