No Man Is an Island

Sweeping for anti-hero holdouts who still need moving, All Might comes back to Ground Zero in Kamino Ward after Class 1-A talked Izuku into returning to U.A. He gathers the wrecked mask and the shredded cowl his successor left behind and tears into himself out loud, useless when the boy needed him, a drag on everyone else at this point.

Stain has him cornered before he finishes, sword at his face, demanding he take it back, because whoever this is, it is not All Might. Reading the accusation as a case of mistaken identity, the man obliges by swelling into his old shape and back one last time, then asks dryly whether Stain intends to kill him. It only stokes the fury. The blade edges closer to his throat and Stain demands to know why he would wear the face of the country's greatest hero on ground this sacred to the profession. Again All Might takes it at face value, since retirement has only carried him further from the work. The country fell apart when his mission to fix it stopped mid stride, he says, and he flogs himself once more for never teaching the boy inheriting his mantle how to look after himself.

Stain hauls him behind a leftover slab of Shoto's ice and orders him to watch the defaced statue. A woman is climbing it, pushing out white spheres of mass from her feet for footholds, and she strips the placard reading I Am Not Here off its neck before starting to scrub the chest with a rag. She was the last person All Might personally rescued before he stepped down. Stain says she comes every day to scour off whatever the local anti-hero crowd has done to it, however dangerous that is and however much it burdens the shelter housing her.

He grabs All Might by the face. The No. 1 Hero earned what he earned by spending himself to save whoever he could while smiling, none of which had anything to do with a Quirk, and a man talking like this has no standing to argue against it. The woman's devotion, and everyone else All Might moves, is his own ember carried outward and lit brighter than it started. That fire should be fed forever, Stain says, especially now.

It lands. All Might weeps watching her murmur encouragement into the stone she keeps polishing. Stain walks off with a parting condition: if the man is genuinely a hero, he will use what Stain took out of Tartarus before escaping. He throws a blade carrying a handwritten note and the disk he lifted, wedged together into the handle, handing his cause for a fairer world to the only man he still believes in.

Back in the Heights Alliance dorms, Izuku gets dumped in the bath and hosed down by his classmates, the boys collapsing into their usual noise while trying to get him loose. Cleaned up in the common room, he asks after Ochaco and learns she fell asleep the moment her speech ended. He thanks them for coming, apologizes for the secrets and the trouble, and Shoto sits down and asks why he is not resting. He wants to stay awake long enough to say sorry to All Might for bolting on him, and All Might promptly appears at the window.

Their intelligence is incomplete, he tells the class, but the last battle may be near for all of them. He will support them however a body like his can, and Izuku and Tenya promise the class will help protect their teacher's people too. Satisfied, he goes.

Rikido asks why Endeavor and the others are not on campus. Shoto explains they cannot show their faces without a reason, and his father's would only drag the evacuees back to what Dabi did. By then Izuku has finally gone under, and Shoto lays a blanket over him. He adds that his own face may do the same, and reminds his class that an audience willing to listen is not an ally, and apprehension toward students and heroes alike has not vanished. He wants to keep working until it does. Kyoka understands, likening it to the School Festival, when they played to lift the weight off the rest of the school, and she pushes the room to aim past simple recovery: take back what was lost and then make it better than it was.

Between Stain's disk and what interrogators pull out of Dr. Garaki and the escapees Izuku brought in, the heroes piece together that All For One means to seize One For All before Tomura's body finishes, roughly two months from the Tartarus break, so about one month out. Going over it with Naomasa, All Might is rattled to learn the two of them have been sharing consciousness inside their Quirk's core through Radio Waves, the same way the vestiges converse. Analysis of those transmissions puts completion at thirty eight days, which means the move comes in three.

Naomasa says they need time bought to set up against the League, so All Might, Hawks, and Endeavor petition the United Nations for foreign heroes by the next day. The chamber stalls. That kind of deployment drowns in paperwork, and stripping their own countries invites the same conquest Japan suffered, however many volunteers are straining at the leash. Then the United States representative nervously admits their No. 1, Star and Stripe, already left for Japan with her fighter escort, because a plea from the man she calls her master, the reason she does any of this at all, was never going to be ignored.

Morning finds Izuku jolting awake with the two of them still in his head, calmed by classmates promising to be there for every step of it. He stands and looks around at them, and with the last fight closing in he is not frightened, because they are all here, and together they will take their lives back.

Stain confronts a despairing All Might, forces him to remember why he was admired, and gives him a knife carrying a letter and a data disk stolen from Tartarus.

That intelligence, plus interrogations of Dr. Garaki and captured villains, reveals that All For One and Tomura share consciousness through Radio Waves and that Tomura's body completes in thirty eight days, leaving three before the villains move. The United Nations stalls on deploying foreign heroes, but Star and Stripe has already launched for Japan on her own. Izuku recovers among his classmates and faces the coming battle without fear.

The twenty fifth episode and finale of Season 6, adapting Chapter 326 from its second page through Chapter 328. It aired in Japan on March 25, 2023, and in English on April 8, closing the Dark Hero arc. A recap special, Episode 138.1, follows it in broadcast order alongside Episode 139.

All Might's reflection on his youth runs slightly longer than the manga's, and the scene of Izuku surfacing from a short bad dream to find his classmates gathered around him is original to the adaptation.
