Bakugo's Start Line

All Might calls the bout for Izuku Midoriya and Ochaco Uraraka, and Katsuki Bakugo comes apart, hyperventilating at the idea of it happening again. His teacher steadies him with the point that a result matters less than what you take from it, win or lose, then moves on. In the monitor room the MVP goes not to a winner but to Tenya Ida, and Momo Yaoyorozu, admitted to U.A. on recommendation alongside three others, explains why. Wide-area attacks indoors were reckless from both boys, Ochaco relaxed too early and closed with an improvised gamble, while Tenya adapted and honored the exercise as designed. All Might is delighted with the answer.

The next match pits Team B against Team I. Mashirao Ojiro and Toru Hagakure set up on the fourth floor beside the payload, Toru stripping completely so her invisibility gives nothing away. Behind them come Shoto Todoroki and Mezo Shoji, and Mezo locates the pair. Shoto sends his partner back outside and then simply freezes the entire structure, leaving two sets of bare feet welded to the floor and the warhead there for the taking. All Might praises the technique while a stunned Katsuki watches.

With the trials finished, All Might dismisses the class and barely escapes before his form gives out. At the nurse's office Recovery Girl scolds him about a third round of critical injuries and about indulging the boy simply because One For All is going to him, and he hushes her, since almost nobody knows. Izuku wakes later and returns to compliments from classmates, but the desk he cares about is empty. Ochaco tells him Katsuki left, and he goes after him.

Outside the school he tries honesty, admitting the power was given to him by someone else and that he never lied. Katsuki will not accept it. What he does accept, crying and furious, is defeat, because Shoto's Quirk and Momo's assessment together have shown him how much distance remains. He warns Izuku this is only the beginning and that there will be no second loss, then storms off, brushing past All Might's attempt to console him with a promise to pass the Number One Hero without anyone's help. Elsewhere, a stranger lowers a newspaper announcing All Might's move into teaching and wonders aloud what becomes of a world whose Symbol of Peace is snuffed out by villains.

Izuku and Ochaco are declared the winners of their Battle Trial, and Tenya Ida is named the exercise MVP on Momo Yaoyorozu's analysis.

Shoto Todoroki freezes an entire building to defeat Mashirao Ojiro and Toru Hagakure almost instantly, giving the class its first look at his power.

Recovery Girl confronts All Might about Izuku's repeated injuries and his connection to One For All.

Izuku tells Katsuki the truth about inheriting his Quirk. Katsuki refuses to believe him but admits defeat, vowing to surpass All Might on his own.

Tomura Shigaraki is glimpsed for the first time, musing on what a world might do once villains snuff its Symbol of Peace out.

Chapter 11 supplies the material, closing out the Battle Trial arc with THE DAY and HEROES as its themes.

The order of events around Katsuki's breakdown is swapped, with the transport robots collecting Izuku beforehand rather than after. Momo's breakdown gains flashbacks for both boys where the manga only gave one to Ochaco, and she adds a remark about Izuku's recoil damage illustrating his recklessness. The montage of remaining matches expands from four teams to every one of them, and Shoto is shown touching the wall before the freeze rather than cutting straight to the result.

Smaller changes abound. Tsuyu, rather than an unnamed classmate, compares All Might's teaching to Eraser Head's; Denki, not Minoru, comments on All Might's exit. Izuku's stay in the clinic is lengthened with a dream about everything since his inheritance and a waking scene. Hanta, Yuga, and Minoru introduce themselves to him, Yuga repeatedly cut off by Mina. Denki's attempt to ask Ochaco out and Tenya's lecture to Fumikage are separated and extended, with Kyoka and Mashirao joining the latter. Ochaco explicitly says Katsuki left early and that his classmates tried to hold him back, where the page simply cut outside. New beats include Ochaco, Mina, and Tsuyu watching from the windows, a longer exchange between All Might and Izuku, and an extended debut for the League of Villains.
