Ida Family

Few families carry the standing the Idas do. Their tradition of professional heroics reaches back to the days when Tenya's grandfather was working, and it has run unbroken through every generation since.

Almost everyone born into the line shares one power. The Engine Quirk seats exhaust pipes in the body, visibly protruding from it, and converts that hardware into remarkable speed.

What truly separates the Idas from other hero families is a technique rather than the Quirk itself. Tenya's grandfather worked out how to upgrade the pipes, and his descendants have handed the method down ever since.

Undergoing it is brutal. The pipes are torn out of the member's own body, which brings agony, and hard training follows. Only patience and perseverance carry it through. Replacements eventually grow in stronger than the originals, granting a higher top speed that can be sustained far longer than before.

Tensei Ida and Tenya Ida are the two members active during the series. Their father and mother, plus Tenya's grandfather and grandmother, complete the known household.

The grandfather matters most to the family's story. He anchors its hero tradition at the earliest recorded point, and he is the one who discovered the pipe replacement method his descendants still practice.
