The prospect of designing their own techniques has Class 1-A buzzing. Shota Aizawa sends them to change into costume and report to Gym Gamma, a facility Cementoss built and can reshape on demand with his Cement Quirk to suit any student's needs. When Tenya asks why such moves matter, Shota lays out what the license exam measures: information gathering, judgment, mobility, leadership, and communication, all tested under pressure, with raw combat ability weighing heaviest of all. Cementoss adds that settling a situation is the real proof of a hero's fighting strength. Ectoplasm then broadens the definition, noting these techniques need not be offensive at all, and cites Tenya's Recipro Burst as a proper example because covering ground in an instant hands him the advantage. Midnight offers a second: Kamui Woods and his Lacquered Chain Prison, which pins opponents before they can act. The class works out the common thread, which is leverage.

Shota explains that the training camp was meant to serve this purpose before it was cut short, so the ten remaining days of summer break will go entirely to Quirk development and technique creation. He also suggests they think about costume upgrades to support whatever they invent. Cementoss shapes the terrain, Ectoplasm supplies clones to spar against, and the class gets to work. Izuku alone stalls out. Scolded for daydreaming by one of the clones, he explains that anything he devises has to avoid shattering his arms, and the clone tells him to build up his Quirk instead.

All Might turns up to watch his students, teaching being the job now. Katsuki has already put down a clone and is delighted to be fighting again, prompting Shota and All Might to agree he has nowhere to go but up. All Might finds Izuku still stuck and tells him he is still imitating someone else, then goes off to help Eijiro before Izuku can ask what that means, the point being that Izuku needs to reason it out alone.

Unable to land on a technique, Izuku decides a costume upgrade is the practical move and heads for the development studio on the building's first floor. Waiting at the door, he settles on reinforcing his arms so he can push One For All's ceiling higher and survive whatever he eventually creates. Tenya and Ochaco are bound for the same place, she to improve her floating and mobility so her hand-to-hand training pays off, he to blunt the drawbacks of Recipro Burst with a better radiator. They spot Izuku by the door. Before anyone can speak, a blast from inside launches him backward. Power Loader is heard scolding the culprit, and as the smoke thins, Mei Hatsume is revealed sitting on top of Izuku. She remembers him from the Sports Festival. Izuku is mortified by the view, and Ochaco is startled.

Class 1-A begins Ultimate Move training at Gym Gamma, with Cementoss shaping the terrain and Ectoplasm providing clones as sparring partners.

Shota Aizawa dedicates the final ten days of summer break to Quirk development and technique creation, and recommends costume upgrades.

All Might tells Izuku he is still imitating him, leaving the meaning for Izuku to work out.

Izuku heads to the development studio seeking arm reinforcement to raise One For All's limit, with Tenya and Ochaco pursuing their own upgrades.

Mei Hatsume reappears, blowing Izuku off his feet with an explosion from the studio.

The hundredth chapter of Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia runs 18 pages, appeared in issue 34 of 2016 dated July 25, 2016, and is collected in volume 12 within the Provisional Hero License Exam arc. Tenya Ida, Izuku Midoriya, and Ochaco Uraraka appear on the cover, with a sketch included.

Horikoshi's author comment thanks readers for carrying the series to its hundredth installment and promises to keep the work up.

The chapter takes place at U.A. High School, chiefly Gym Gamma, and features Cement, Clones, Hardening, Tail, Acid, Pop Off, Explosion, Zero Gravity, Invisibility, Creation, and Half-Cold Half-Hot among its Quirks. Dabi and Himiko Toga appear in shadow, and Kamui Woods along with several League members feature in flashback. The anime adapts the material in Episode 52.
