Chapter 131

The weight of Sir Nighteye's vision lands on Izuku Midoriya twice over. Beyond learning that he was never the intended heir to One For All, he grasps that the same reading sentences his mentor to an early grave. Everyone dies eventually, yet knowing the date cuts him open. Toshinori Yagi explains where the rift began: he had brought the boy up to his old sidekick, who rejected him outright and insisted that stronger prospects carried the very same motives. Toshinori countered that a Quirkless candidate was precisely the right shape for the role. The argument ended with Nighteye walking away to raise Mirio Togata as his own answer.

Pressed for specifics, Toshinori admits the window falls six or seven years out, that distant readings carry a margin of error, and that nothing Foresight shows has ever been altered. Doing the arithmetic, Izuku realizes his mentor may have a year at most. Toshinori confesses he once made peace with the ending and simply sprinted toward the finish line he thought he saw, planning to fall at Kamino in his last clash with All For One. What kept him breathing was a timid boy who rose to meet every expectation, plus Inko Midoriya begging him to survive and shield her son. He proves the point by flickering briefly back into his hero build, then concedes that every detail so far still matches the prophecy, which is why facing Nighteye shames him.

Unwilling to hold his student back, Toshinori calls the ending settled. Izuku refuses that, arguing nobody has checked whether the future moved, and swears to twist it alongside him. His mentor promises to be as little trouble as possible. A suggestion that Nighteye simply look again is waved off as too convenient. Elsewhere, two crews with Gigantification Quirks wreck Espa Avenue. Nejire Hado slams both giants into the pavement with a Nejire Wave and calls in her partners. Uravity strips the weight from heaped rubble, Froppy launches it, and the combination named Meteor Fafrotskies buries the pair. Their mentor, the Dragoon Hero Ryukyu, sees why Nejire recruited two students whose Field Training hosts had passed on them. Ryukyu promises to sharpen both girls for a coming case, since her agency will join Nighteye's team of Lemillion and Deku plus Fat Gum's interns Red Riot and Suneater, all aimed at the Shie Hassaikai and its possible thread back to the League of Villains. Underground, Kai Chisaki and Tomura Shigaraki sit across from one another again.

Toshinori spells out how completely Nighteye opposed the succession, and reveals that Mirio was cultivated as proof of his own judgment.

The Foresight reading leaves Toshinori roughly a year of life. He had accepted that ending until Izuku gave him a reason to keep clawing forward, and the two agree to defy the prediction together.

Ochaco and Tsuyu turn out to be interning under Ryukyu alongside Nejire, while Overhaul meets Tomura for a second time.
