Chapter 137

While Eri's location is narrowed down, the four work-study students keep training on standby, barred from breathing a word about the operation. Following the briefing, Shota Aizawa had asked the three of them directly what they wanted, and each declared their intention to take part. Tamaki Amajiki backs the choice, reasoning that their presence in that room already meant the professionals rated their skills. Shota's question was about confirming free will, and he frames the job simply as taking Eri into custody, adding that the whole thing halts if the League of Villains turns out to be involved, unlikely as that seems. Nobody objects.

In the U.A. cafeteria, spirits run high everywhere except inside Izuku. The mood at the meeting never allowed him to raise All Might with Sir Nighteye, the secrecy rule bars him from asking All Might himself, and Eijiro is equally off limits. Shoto Todoroki nudges him about eating, and both Shoto and Tenya Ida note the long face he has worn for days. Tenya reminds him of words he once said before Field Training, that anyone cornered with no way forward should say something to his friends. Izuku fights back tears, thanks him, and feels the weight ease a little. Shoto reflects that even heroes need to cry, and offers half his soba.

Out in the field, one of the heroes assigned to the operation works the ground near the Shie Hassaikai's facility. Two nights later, messages reach the four students: today is the day. Everyone converges on Nighteye's office, where he confirms Eri is inside the yakuza headquarters. The break came from a toy meant for a young girl. Fat Gum guesses a collector, but Nighteye had spotted Eri's caretaker at the store, laid a hand on the shopper's shoulder, and read a future that contained her. The sidekicks report a window for when the man will be home, and Gran Torino confirms the warrant is in hand. Mirio Togata's excitement lifts Izuku's own. Outside the compound, Shota and Fat Gum stand ready to move with Nejire, Tamaki, Mirio, Tsuyu, Ochaco, Eijiro and Izuku. Inside, Kai Chisaki registers their arrival.

The work-study students confirm their participation and wait under a strict information blackout for the raid to begin.

Tenya and Shoto notice Izuku's distress and lift him out of it.

Nighteye uses Foresight on Eri's caretaker at a toy store, pinpointing the Shie Hassaikai headquarters, and the raid launches.
