Chapter 21 (Vigilantes)

Makoto brings news to Kazuho and Koichi: an executive at the Marukane Department Store wants an ensemble drawn from young local performers to sing the store's theme song. Kazuho agrees to take part.

The lineup fills out. Miu and Yu, billed as the Feathers, come aboard, followed by the East Naruhata High Dance Squad, whose members insist their movement speaks for itself and costumes are unnecessary. The Mad Hatters round it out. The leaders of the two groups take an immediate liking to each other. Makoto shelves the question of where the singers will stand for now.

She sets the Feathers to drill basic footwork and stage movement with the dance squad, with everyone reconvening in a week to sort positioning, and reveals that all eleven of them will headline the event before heading off to talk the roster over with the store's executives.

Training turns brutal for the Feathers, while Kazuho works on the song at Koichi's place. Captain Celebrity, meanwhile, papers the neighborhood with flyers after putting down an enormous gorilla villain.

A sprained ankle during a workout puts Miu in doubt, and the group tries to find her a spot that asks little of her legs. Makoto floats putting Kazuho in the center with a Feather on either flank, or dropping Miu entirely and running Kazuho and Yu as a duo. Miu takes the prospect hard after all her effort. Kazuho offers a third option: center Miu, have Yu shuttle side to side around her, and let Kazuho bounce around behind the pair.

The Mad Hatters leader clocks that the dance squad's leader has cut her hair and resolves to mention it once the show is done. Koichi comments on it seconds later, embarrassing her and infuriating him.

Elsewhere in a darkened building, Kuin Hachisuka muses that a surprise villain would liven the performance up. Teruo Unagisawa is there in an eel form considerably larger than the one Kazuho faced before, muttering the word Pop, and Kuin assures him they will be in the crowd cheering Pop on.

Makoto Tsukauchi assembles an eleven-strong ensemble around Kazuho Haneyama for the Marukane Department Store's show.

The Feathers, the East Naruhata High Dance Squad, the Mad Hatters and Rikiya Eno all debut, and Miu's sprained ankle forces a rethink of the staging.

Kuin Hachisuka prepares a modified Teruo Unagisawa to crash the performance.

Twenty-one pages long, the chapter was published on January 13, 2018 and collected into Volume 4 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, part of the Vs. Queen Bee arc. Kazuho Haneyama takes the cover.

The adaptation is split between Episode 10, covering the first three pages, and Episode 11 for the remainder.

A different title, Training, was originally attached to the chapter and got swapped out when the volume came together. King Kong is the model for the enormous gorilla villain Captain Celebrity puts down. The series is written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and drawn by Betten Court.
