Gran Torino brings All Might a story about a dream Nana Shimura once had concerning One For All. On the field below, Neito Monoma goads Izuku Midoriya into charging while three unseen Class 1-B Quirks turn the terrain into a weapon, and something dark starts leaking out of Izuku's body.
As the fifth round opens, All Might slips somewhere private to talk with his old mentor, and Gran Torino raises the subject of a dream Nana Shimura once had about One For All. Down on the ground, Izuku leads his team toward 1-B, thinking through the problem: once they make contact, direct communication becomes a liability, because Hitoshi only needs one of them to answer him. What 1-A needs first is the location of the hiding spots.
Ochaco, Mina and Minoru follow, with Izuku privately admitting he has been uneasy about his Quirk ever since meeting the previous holders. The rest of the class watches and compares notes. Tenya and Hanta notice the formation mirrors what Katsuki's team ran in the fourth round, though Hanta points out this team has no Jiro to lean on and had better move carefully. Kyoka adds that the gaps in the lineup mean Izuku will have to shoulder more to make the win worth having.
At the checkpoint Izuku waves his teammates aside and sets himself up as bait. He sweeps the area under Full Cowl, alert, until an oil barrel comes flying at him and he recognizes Reiko's Poltergeist behind it. Bracing for the hit, he hears Ochaco scream and turns to find a smug Neito stepping out of cover. Neito claims he has to stay sharp given the fighting style Izuku has built, and then starts working on him: questions about his strategy, jabs about abandoning his team, and finally a cruel needle about Katsuki's part in ending All Might's run as the top-ranked hero. Izuku charges, winding up a concentrated Delaware Smash, while Neito keeps monologuing about his resentment of the naturally gifted and charges an attack of his own.
Moments earlier, Ochaco and Minoru had been planning to tie down the rest of 1-B with Pop Off, with Mina wishing she could have seen Hitoshi deliver Ochaco's voice with a straight face, and Ochaco reminding everyone to watch each other's faces in a confrontation. Then metal objects come flying at them. Mina shields her friends with Acid Veil while a hidden Nirengeki puzzles over his scouter readings. Minoru works out that Reiko is firing blind, and Ochaco spots Yui using Size to swell two of the projectiles instantly. Uravity touches every enlarged object and leaves the lot floating, but Nirengeki's Twin Impact sends them homing back in, and 1-A barely dodges the combined attack. Ochaco is left shaken that 1-B pinned their position at all, and worried about Izuku.
Back with Gran Torino, the story lands: around the time One For All passed to Nana, she met a figure wrapped in dark fog who told her it was not time yet. As they talk, Shota Aizawa, Katsuki and All Might all register that something is wrong with Izuku, whose body is pouring out dark energy strongly enough to destroy his gear.
Gran Torino tells All Might about Nana Shimura's dream, hinting at a development still to come in One For All.
The Quirks of Yui Kodai, Nirengeki Shoda and Reiko Yanagi are all revealed.
Something dark starts pouring out of Izuku's body, wrecking his Air Force Gloves.
Fifteen pages long, the chapter ran on December 17, 2018 in the third issue of 2019 and was collected into Volume 22 as part of the Joint Training arc. All Might and Gran Torino share the cover.
Episode 98 adapts the chapter.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
