Summary

Ochaco Uraraka's memories open the chapter. Her parents wore themselves out for a construction firm that paid too little, and their exhaustion weighed on her as a child. Watching a hero work a scene redirected her: the relief rippling through the onlookers convinced her the job was worth having. Recalling Izuku Midoriya's brutal fight with Overhaul, she wonders who steps in when the rescuer is the one in pain.

In the present she clings to Izuku while black tendrils crawl from his right arm. One For All is bearing down harder than he can talk through. Realizing the outburst is not his doing, Ochaco calls a bewildered Hitoshi Shinso over for Brainwashing. Hitoshi gropes for a question, remembering their Sports Festival bout, how Izuku seemed born holding an ideal Quirk, and how losing had left him hungry for a rematch. He removes his Artificial Vocal Cords and offers a fight; Izuku answers, and the rampaging Quirk shuts off.

Unconscious, Izuku wakes somewhere familiar. A bald figure in goggles hails him, one of the men who carried One For All before him. Daigoro Banjo grants that the power has arrived, insists it is being handled wrong, and pushes his successor toward control.
