Chapter 315

A flashback opens on Kai Chisaki telling Lady Nagant that he recognizes her target as the boy who wrecked his organization, someone he diagnoses with a bad and advanced strain of Hero Syndrome. Struck by what feels like fate, she asks him along to identify the target, and he accepts on one term. She refuses to inherit his old grudges, but he corrects her: all he wants is delivery to his Boss, the only thing he still cares about.

In the present, Kai shouts that his end of the deal is done while the Rifle stays leveled at him. Swelling her arm to its limit, she tells Deku that his hero education guarantees any death on his watch will sit on his conscience regardless of whose it is, and fires, counting on hesitation to open him up.

Instead he swings on Blackwhip and layers Fa Jin over One For All at forty-five percent, producing a Faux 100% that briefly makes him faster than the round and puts Kai in his arms. Nagant, in disbelief, realizes he had already changed direction before she pulled the trigger. Deku tells Kai they are not finished and hauls himself back with Blackwhip.

Stacking One For All at forty-five percent with Float, Blackwhip, Smokescreen, Fa Jin and Danger Sense in rapid succession has outpaced his body, so he narrows down to three of them, and with one more leg's worth of stored Fa Jin lands Faux 100% Manchester Smash on her rifle arm as she falls back, shouting that it is over. What stays with her is that saving an enemy looked entirely natural for him. Air Walk gives out and she drops, wondering when the Commission's platitudes started making her sick.

Deku catches her. The round aimed at Kai, he points out, was never on a killing trajectory, and someone genuinely in All For One's camp would have taken him with the first shot rather than offering a chance to surrender. Having lived in the shadows, he tells her, she of all people knows the road back toward daylight, so he invites her onto his side, insisting a hero's soul remains in her.

She smiles and begins to call him a true hero when a blast tears through her from inside, leaving her charred as Deku screams in horror. All For One had rigged the failsafe in anticipation of exactly this, and writes her off as nothing more than an instrument other people pick up, telling her to blame her Quirk for it. Hawks flies in to catch her, begging his senior not to die.

Deku combines One For All at forty-five percent with Fa Jin to produce a Faux 100%, briefly matching the speed of a bullet to save Kai.

He spends the remainder of that power defeating Lady Nagant.

He then rescues her and tells her the soul of a hero is still there, and she acknowledges him as the real thing.

All For One triggers the failsafe built into their contract, detonating her from within.

Hawks reaches the scene and tries to save her.

Seventeen pages, printed in issue 27 of 2021 on June 7 and collected in Volume 32 under the Dark Hero arc. Kai Chisaki and Lady Nagant share the cover, and Episode 134 adapts the material. The chapter concludes the fight between Deku and Lady Nagant.

Izuku calling All Might's speed faster than a speeding bullet borrows the phrase long attached to Superman, and the panels of Nagant expanding her Rifle's structure recall Tetsuo Shima's mutated arm from AKIRA.

Kohei Horikoshi's author comment mentions carving out time for sketching and wanting more freedom in his art.
