Chapter 36

Ochaco opens the bout by moving first, closing on Katsuki only to eat an Explosion for it. When he reaches down for her, all he finds on the floor is her discarded jacket. She comes at his back instead, and his reflexes bring another Explosion around before she can capitalise, throwing her clear. She tries to rise; he arrives faster and blasts her again, and again after that, until the audience starts booing him for it. Shota is unimpressed with the crowd, telling them that Katsuki is fighting at full alert precisely because his opponent is dangerous.

Battered as she is, Ochaco thanks him privately for refusing to relax, because that is what bought her the setup. Every exchange scattered rubble, and her Quirk has been working on all of it. She triggers a Meteor Shower, intending to use the falling debris as cover so she can reach him and end it with her hands. Katsuki answers with a single enormous Explosion that shreds the entire storm and knocks her flat at the same time. She gets up. She starts forward. Then her injuries finish the argument for her and she goes down and stays down. Midnight checks her over, rules her unable to continue, and awards the match to Katsuki.

Neito explains the tactics Ochaco has been using against Katsuki. Ochaco reveals her plan, floating the debris generated during the fight and dropping it as a Meteor Shower to mask a direct approach.

Katsuki destroys the meteor storm with one massive Explosion and downs her in the same motion. Ochaco collapses from her injuries, and Midnight declares Katsuki the winner, concluding the match.

Kohei Horikoshi numbers this My Hero Academia installment 36, under the title Bakugo vs. Uraraka. It runs nineteen pages, collects into Volume 5, and appeared in issue 18 of 2015 on March 23. The cover carries Katsuki Bakugo and Ochaco Uraraka along with Fumikage Tokoyami and Izuku Midoriya, and a sketch version accompanies it.

The chapter belongs to the U.A. Sports Festival arc and was adapted as Episode 22. Trivia notes that Toytoy, from Horikoshi's earlier series Ōmagadoki Dōbutsuen, can be spotted in the bleachers. His author comment offers an apology for slipping up somehow in every single instalment, despite how large the readership has become.
