Chapter 379

The chapter backtracks to just after Kurogiri tore out of Central Hospital, with staff rushing the wounded inside for treatment. Lady Nagant climbed out of her bed then, brushing off a doctor who told her reopened wounds would kill her. He would not tell a convict where the enemy was, so she said Izuku had asked her to fight beside them. Rock Lock arrived, took responsibility for her, and briefed her on the battle and on U.A. The entire mobilization rests on their faith in Izuku, he told her, and should her own heart push her toward acting on his behalf, he will extend that same trust to her.

In the present, from the hospital roof, that shot lands on Tomura Shigaraki, and the recoil tears through her insides. She has one round left. She thinks about how far under she had gone before Deku and her successor reminded her what she shines for, and she pours the last of herself into making the shot carry. Tomura's left arm comes off.

All For One shrieks from inside him, tearing into Nagant for playing the victim after killing fellow heroes. Tomura shuts him up as fingers pour endlessly out of his mouth. He laughs at the failed manipulation and the state the man is in, itemizing the grooming: All Might and Nana Shimura used to keep him raw, the plan to seize his body and soul, the intent to feed on his hatred and take One For All. But merging made All For One part of him, Tomura says, and he hated every second, so he buried his own core deep in his soul and has been quietly taking himself back from the inside, walking toward his origin.

All For One orders Kurogiri to warp him to his other self and gets stammering instead, the protector line repeating while Oboro Shirakumo surfaces through it.

Tomura declares he has no use for One For All and no intention of being steered again. His heart will not waver like the other villains', he says, because everything in the world converged to build the house that raised him. Breaking the vestige's hold, Tomura Shigaraki and Tenko Shimura together name their single hope: erase everything that house came from, the only thing that can save him.

Deku grabs him and blasts them both off U.A., startling Gentle and Lemillion, reasoning that a Tomura with working Quirks cannot be fought inside the tomb. They hit the ground with a Business Course student filming from above, and Deku says he will not let that happen, and that he cannot unsee the crying he just witnessed.

Lady Nagant enters the war briefly, firing on Tomura from the hospital roof with the last of what she has, her way of settling a debt to Izuku.

Tomura wrests his body back from All For One's vestige, dismantling his attempts at manipulation and setting loose both himself and the Tenko buried inside.

He announces his intent to destroy the society that produced the household he suffered in, calling that his only salvation.

All For One demands a gate to his main body, and the clashing wills inside Kurogiri and Oboro refuse to produce one.

Deku restates his intention to save Tomura and throws him off the U.A. Flying Fortress so they can fight on the ground.

Horikoshi's 379th installment fills sixteen pages, printed in issue 9 of 2023 and later gathered into Volume 38, within the Final War arc. Episode 155 adapts it.

Tomura's vestige climbing out of All For One's mouth, and the loss of control that follows, reads as a nod to the Greek titan Kronos, who swallowed his children to prevent them overthrowing him, only for Rhea to hide the infant Zeus, who later forced him to disgorge his siblings.

Horikoshi's author comment mentions playing syrup16g through the cold weather and praises the band's new album.
