Chapter 4

The first use of One For All has wrecked Izuku Midoriya, leaving both legs and his right arm broken, and he cannot manage a safe landing on his own. The girl he pulled out from under the giant robot floats him down instead. The practical is called just as he registers his disappointment, and he passes out. Other examinees marvel at the Quirk and wonder whether his earlier behavior was an act meant to mislead them, while Tenya notices that saving the girl was the whole point and begins questioning what the exam actually measured. Recovery Girl, the school nurse, arrives and heals him.

A week later a letter arrives and opens onto a screen with All Might, who apologizes for the silence and announces that he will be teaching at U.A. The written test went fine, he says, but the practical came back at zero, which is a failure. Then he plays footage of Ochaco Uraraka asking Present Mic whether her own points could go to the boy who saved her. Robots were never the only thing being scored: the judges were also awarding rescue points, and Izuku earned sixty of them for her. He passed, and U.A. is now his hero academia.

Izuku takes the recoil of his debut One For All punch.

He finishes the exam with no villain points.

All Might reveals the hidden rescue-point criterion alongside villain points.

U.A. High School accepts Izuku.

The fourth chapter of Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia, published July 28, 2014 in issue 35 and collected in Volume 1 at nineteen pages. It closes the Entrance Exam arc and is adapted in Episode 4.
