Chapter 430

Izuku fills a notebook with his conclusions. Nobody is born equal, everyone is shaped differently, and it is precisely that mismatch which drives people toward one another hunting for something in common. Kota Izumi, older now, interrupts to call him Deku Sensei and ask where the practical exercise meets, and the answer is a bus stop, since the day's lesson covers how to reach the U.S.J. Izuku keeps writing. This was the truth he learned at seventeen, on the day when everyone's hopes reached him at once, and if sparing a thought for another person is the first step into heroism, then that day made heroes of an entire country. He remembers his last two years of school, a dream he felt unqualified for that came true regardless, and a story that began with his body moving before his mind and closed when One For All's last ember burned out around graduation. He is still writing because pages remain.

Eight years past the final battle, a middle school class fills out career forms. One is aiming at the hero course at U.A. Another names Lightly Labs, the design agency Mei Hatsume founded. A third means to cure what medicine currently cannot, following Dr. Ryu Yoshida at Central Hospital. A fourth is set on GeL Inc., run by Gentle and La Brava, which made its name during a cyber war five years back. A boy named Dai is told the hero course will be brutal for someone with his Quirk, since villain emergence has fallen so far that the profession has shrunk to only the strongest. Dai remembers when every child worshipped All Might, Endeavor, Best Jeanist, Deku, Dynamight, and Shoto, suspects he is the only one who never outgrew it, and carries his doubts back to Kamino Ward, to the statue of All Might.

At U.A., Izuku watches Tentacole accept the Imamura Peace Prize for pursuing peaceful answers to discrimination, an award he dedicates to the people who rose up eight years ago and whose resolve he says he merely stood upon. Coverage moves to Ingenium, Froppy, Creati, and Uravity touring elementary schools, part of an expanded hero remit that includes wider Quirk counselling, an initiative Uravity leads and many consider the most necessary work of the era. Aizawa shows Izuku footage of Katsuki screaming at a cameraman and predicts another slide down the Billboard. Izuku notes Shoto handling fans evenly despite the awkwardness, no longer read as Endeavor's son, and Mirio topping the chart above Kamui Woods and Mt. Lady, with Neito and Juzo closing fast. Asked whether he misses hero work, Izuku recalls the conversation he and Mawata Fuwa had years ago and says that turning his experience into encouragement for others has its own worth. Aizawa tells him to get stricter, since these students are guaranteed future heroes.

Walking home, Izuku thinks about classmates whose schedules never align anymore, passes their advertisements and children imitating them, enjoys their success, and drifts to the Kamino statue. He leaps to catch a falling child, and Dai trips trying to do the same. Recognizing him instantly, Dai explains that the world is outrunning him and his Quirk is feeble next to his classmates', so he keeps asking the statue whether he can be a hero. Remembering his own first meeting with All Might, Izuku launches into a muttering analysis of Dai's power, the saucers he throws from his hair, and suggests stacking them for force or altering their size, which Dai finds encouraging and creepy in equal measure. He will be fine, Izuku says, because he already reached out to help. Gazing up at the school, Izuku admits privately that he misses all of it, yet while he can still push others forward, this remains an account of how they all became great heroes.

All Might arrives with a gift. Data from his own fight with All For One eight years earlier opened doors, since technology deepens the way Quirks do, and Izuku's mastery of multiple Quirks makes him the ideal test subject. He hands over a mechanical case built by his overseas friend Melissa Shield working with Mei, funded by former Class A with Katsuki leading the effort. Do not hide it, he says, because that body still leaps before it thinks, and this power was earned honestly. Izuku smiles through tears. Hawks calls for responders to a landslide blocking Warstar Road, and as Izuku glances down at Tomura Shigaraki's smiling ghost, he rejoins his classmates, declaring this the tale of how they will keep reaching out forever.

The story jumps eight years forward, and Izuku's narration is revealed to be his own account written in a notebook. The final embers of One For All left him around graduation, making him Quirkless again, and he now teaches at U.A. with Kota Izumi and Koki Terumoto among his students. Katsuki has regained the use of his injured arm through therapy, Mirko has upgraded prosthetics, Eri is in middle school, and Spinner's book on the League of Villains is shown being read by Mr. Compress.

Villain emergence has declined sharply. Mei has founded Lightly Labs. GeL Inc. belongs to Gentle and La Brava, who appear to be married. Tentacole takes the Imamura Peace Prize for his work against heteromorph discrimination, and Uravity spearheads expanded Quirk counselling while touring schools with Ingenium, Froppy, and Creati. Mirio sits atop the Hero Billboard Chart.

Izuku encourages a boy named Dai to pursue heroism. Kamino's All Might statue has been rebuilt, and it now stands among figures of ordinary civilians with arms raised, honoring everyone's part in the Final War. All Might presents Izuku with a mechanized suit built by Melissa and Mei from battle data and financed by former Class A, returning him to active hero work. My Hero Academia formally concludes.

Chapter 430 shares its title with the series itself and ran 19 pages on August 5, 2024 in the combined issue 36 to 37, the last chapter published in Weekly Shonen Jump and the penultimate chapter overall. It closes the Epilogue arc in volume 42, opens with a color spread, and is adapted in episode 170.

Trivia notes that the adult designs of the former students appeared as early as chapter 357, where Endeavor hallucinated a grown Shoto walking beside his classmates. Lightly Labs is read as a possible nod to Mega Man's Dr. Light, and the Imamura Peace Prize as a nod to Horikoshi's editor of the same name. Warstar Road continues the series habit of Star Wars references in its place names, and Izuku glimpsing Tomura's approving ghost may extend the joke. Horikoshi's author comment thanks readers and says he was glad to run in Jump.
