Summary

Day three of the internship reaches five in the evening with Izuku flat out and battered, having done nothing but fight since he arrived. Gran Torino calls a halt to the One For All drilling. Sparring one opponent forever would leave the boy stale, and no amount of protest changes his mind. Phase two is field work. Izuku washes up, pulls on his costume, and the two head out. A cab ride gives the old Hero time to note that crime concentrates wherever people do, which confirms Izuku's guess that Shinjuku is the destination by rail. The route crosses Hosu, and the thought of Tenya starts nagging at Izuku, enough that he decides to reach out later. The cab drops them at the station and they board.

In Hosu itself, Tenya is patrolling with Manual, who reads the situation accurately and asks whether the Hero Killer is the reason he picked this office at all. His advice is to keep a private grudge out of the work. He apologizes for prying; Tenya says the warning is welcome. Then, fist tightening, Tenya asks himself where all his fury is supposed to go if not into revenge.

Kurogiri opens a gate into Hosu for himself, Stain and Tomura. Tomura remarks on how well the city is doing. Stain intends to correct it by making examples of the counterfeit professionals working there, since the title belongs only to those who achieve something worth the name rather than those collecting a paycheck. He will keep surfacing until society admits its mistake, he says, and drops off the roof to get on with it. Tomura gripes about the sermonizing and Kurogiri cautions him against dismissing a man whose methods deliver, which catches Tomura's interest even as he decides the two of them will never be compatible. Annoyed and wanting something to break, he has Kurogiri turn the Nomu loose. Three come through the gate and Tomura points them at the city.

The train carries Izuku past Hosu. Night arrival suits Gran Torino fine, since villains keep late hours and experience will come cheaply. Izuku checks his phone and sees his message to Tenya marked as read and unanswered. Then the brakes lock, and a Pro Hero comes through the side of the carriage, followed by something built like a Nomu. Izuku moves; Gran Torino orders him to sit. The old man launches himself off his seat and rams the creature clean out of the train, the pair of them hanging in the air over Hosu. Izuku's attempt to check on him instead reveals a skyline on fire, and his thoughts snap straight to Tenya.

In an alley below, Stain listens to the city coming apart and understands that Tomura has moved. He leaves the boy to his own devices, raising his katana over the Pro Hero he came for. Something approaches at his back. He slashes without turning, dropping his attacker and knocking away a helmet and a pair of glasses. Looking down at a child, he tells him to leave. Tenya rises with murder in his stare and says he has been hunting him. Stain names the look for what it is, warns him off, and adds that if circumstances call for it, children die too. He turns back to his target. Shaking with rage, Tenya declares himself the brother of a Hero Stain cut down and says he has come to stop him in that brother's place, and orders him to remember the name Ingenium, because that is the Hero who will finish him. Convinced now that the boy means it, Stain tells him to ready himself to die.

It follows both Chapter 49 and the extra Chapter 49.5. Native debuts here, and the Hosu Incident begins. Episode 28 adapts the material.
