Chapter 7

Watching from hiding, All Might admires the split-second call that sent One For All through a single fingertip. Ochaco Uraraka cheers, Tenya Ida remarks on the finger, and Katsuki Bakugo comes apart. A Quirk in Izuku Midoriya's hands strikes him as flatly impossible, and he decides the boy spent years lying about being Quirkless. He storms forward demanding answers until Shota Aizawa's Capturing Weapon reels him in.

With every event finished, Shota posts the scores and drops the truth: nobody was ever going home. The expulsion threat was bait, a rational trick to squeeze out maximum effort, and the reveal stuns Izuku, Ochaco and Tenya alike. He points the class toward the curriculum sheets waiting in the room and sends Izuku off to Recovery Girl for repairs.

All Might catches him on the way out and calls him a fraud, given that he threw out a whole class the previous year. His policy, he says, is to cut students with zero chances, so Izuku must have shown him something. Shota agrees only that the boy currently sits above zero, and reserves the right to expel anyone who drops beneath it. He walks off, and All Might concludes the two of them will never see eye to eye.

Day one ends with Izuku, Ochaco and Tenya walking home as friends. The following day, once ordinary lessons wrap, Class 1-A gets Foundational Heroics Studies taught by the number one Pro Hero himself, which delights Izuku. All Might describes a series of trials meant to lay their hero groundwork, names the Battle Trial as the first, and orders everyone into costume with a reminder that they are heroes from this point on.

Katsuki demands an explanation for Izuku's sudden Quirk and is restrained by Shota's Capturing Weapon. Shota reveals the expulsion rule as a deliberate lie designed to draw out the class's best performances, and states he can still remove anyone who falls below his threshold. Overusing Erasure is shown to leave him with dry eye.

Izuku forms his first real friendships with Ochaco and Tenya. All Might takes over Foundational Heroics Studies and announces the Battle Trial, sending the class to change into their hero costumes.

Kohei Horikoshi's seventh My Hero Academia chapter runs nineteen pages in volume one, published August 25, 2014 in issue 39. It falls in the Quirk Apprehension Test arc, follows chapters 6 and 6.5, and precedes chapter 8. Ochaco Uraraka, Tenya Ida, Yuga Aoyama and Katsuki Bakugo share the cover.

Rikido Sato and Lunch Rush debut here. The adaptation splits the material: page one lands in Episode 5, with the rest covered by Episode 6. Featured settings include U.A. High School's P.E. Grounds, Recovery Girl's office, the Class 1-A room and the Lunch Rush Cafeteria, with Aldera Junior High appearing in flashback. The Quirk Apprehension Test concludes.
