A pinned Dabi clone spells out the League's real target, public trust in heroes, while at the rendezvous a stolen pair of marbles changes hands twice. The eighty-second chapter frees Fumikage and loses Katsuki in the same breath.
Back at the moment of Mandalay's telepathic notice, Eijiro Kirishima and Mina Ashido press Vlad King to let them help Katsuki Bakugo. He refuses, reading Shota Aizawa's permission as authorization to defend themselves and nothing more. Dabi blows the door in with flames and Vlad King shields the two, then slams the clone into a wall and locks its body down with Blood Control. Held fast, the double lays out the campaign's second purpose. Society forgave U.A. for the U.S.J. attack, but a second breach will not be forgiven; the raid on the camp and the theft of a student will draw criticism of the school's sloppy management, damage its reputation, and gradually cut away the public's trust in heroes.
Shota arrives and destroys the clone, which extinguishes. He hands Kota Izumi over to Vlad King and explains that the League is using doubles to tie up the pros because their numbers are thin. Class 1-A wants to fight given how few villains there are, and Shota refuses, ordering them to stay with Vlad King while the villains' objective remains unknown. Student safety comes first. He heads back out to the front.
In the present at the collection point, Dabi tells Mr. Compress to move and sprays fire at the students. Compress escapes by compressing himself, Shoto Todoroki dodges, and Izuku Midoriya and Mezo Shoji each take burns, on the right and left arm respectively. Twice materializes behind Shoto and is sent reeling by a wall of ice. Himiko Toga joins in, attacking Izuku, offering her name, and telling him he ought to bleed more; Mezo smacks her off while Shoto handles Twice.
Mr. Compress drops his Quirk and goes to hand the prizes to Dabi, only to find his pocket empty. Mezo reveals he lifted the marbles the instant they hit the ground. Then the Nomu appears alongside Kurogiri, there to warp the squad out. Himiko, Twice, and the Nomu step through. Mr. Compress lets the trick land: the marbles Mezo holds turn to ice, and lifting his mask he displays the real ones on his tongue, explaining that he wanted to hand the young heroes false hope and admitting the flaunting is a bad habit he enjoys. He starts into the portal with a farewell.
Yuga Aoyama, who overheard everything, fires Navel Laser into the magician's face. The mask shatters and the marbles spill out. Izuku, Mezo, and Shoto sprint for them, though Izuku's injuries drop him partway. Mezo secures Fumikage's marble and saves him. Shoto's fingers are nearly on Katsuki's when Dabi snatches it away. Holding Katsuki, Dabi orders the release, which frees both boys, and the teleport begins. Izuku forces himself up and lunges to stop it in vain, and Katsuki tells him to stay back before vanishing with the villains. The Vanguard Action Squad is gone, and Izuku howls in grief.
Shota and Vlad King destroy Dabi's double, which reveals the League's aim of discrediting U.A. and eroding faith in heroes.
Kurogiri arrives and opens portals, and the villains withdraw one by one.
Yuga's Navel Laser breaks Mr. Compress's mask and frees both marbles. Fumikage is recovered, but Dabi seizes Katsuki and escapes with him.
Kohei Horikoshi's eighty-second chapter ran in issue 15 of 2016 and appears in volume 10, concluding the Vanguard Action Squad Invasion within the Forest Training Camp arc. Episode 45 adapts it.
Tenya Ida, Eijiro, Mina, Vlad King, Dabi, Minoru Mineta, and Rikido Sato share the cover. Horikoshi's author comment describes a studio game where the staff pick a theme and all draw storyboards for it.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
Chapter 82 of My Hero Academia, titled "What a Twist!," has Yuga Aoyama's Navel Laser shatter Mr. Compress's mask and free the two marbles holding Fumikage Tokoyami and Katsuki Bakugo. Fumikage is recovered, but Dabi seizes Katsuki's marble and escapes with him through Kurogiri's warp gate.
