Chapter 98

August is halfway gone when Izuku packs up to leave the apartment, and Inko sends him off with instructions about proper meals and prompt replies to her messages. Class 1-A then arrives at Heights Alliance, a set of dormitories raised in only three days and sitting a short walk from the school building itself. Watching from inside U.A., Nezu admits privately that shifting to a boarding system serves two purposes: shielding the students, and keeping the suspected traitor in view. He dislikes suspecting people he works beside, but student safety comes first, and with the Symbol of Peace retired he wants the school pointing its pupils toward something hopeful.

Aizawa gathers the class and starts with what the summer cost them. The training camp was meant to end with everyone earning a Provisional Hero License, and the League's raid erased that. Worse, he says, several students behaved as though they already held one. He names Shoto, Eijiro, Izuku, Momo, and Tenya outright, telling them he knows they were at the scene when Katsuki was recovered, and that most of their classmates, Katsuki, Toru, and Kyoka excepted, were aware of the scheme. Officially the incident has been buried. Unofficially, had All Might not stepped down, every one of them except those three would have been thrown out. Aizawa's parting advice is to use the proper channels next time and rebuild the trust they spent.

The room sours until Katsuki hauls Denki out and forces a burst of Electrification from him, and Denki's resulting stupidity gets Kyoka and Hanta laughing. Katsuki also settles his debt with Eijiro over the night vision scope, and Eijiro apologizes to everyone and promises to make it up with barbecue. With spirits recovered, Aizawa walks them through the building: one dorm per class, women on the right wing and men on the left, with the ground floor shared for meals, bathing, and laundry. Bedrooms occupy the upper four floors, each private and fitted with air conditioning, a bathroom, a refrigerator, and a closet. Luggage has already been delivered, so the day belongs to unpacking; the rules come tomorrow.

That night the boys gather downstairs, the girls join them, and Mina floats the idea of judging whose room has the best taste. The second floor delivers extremes: Izuku's shrine of All Might merchandise, Fumikage's gloomy horror den, and Yuga's glittering opposite. Minoru's room gets skipped entirely, to his loud dismay. The third floor is tamer, with Mashirao, Denki, Koji, and a bespectacled Tenya buried in eyewear and books. The boys object to being the only ones inspected, Minoru insists fairness demands the girls' rooms be judged too, and Mina agrees, formally opening the contest.

Class 1-A takes up residence in the newly built Heights Alliance dormitories, and Nezu privately confirms the boarding conversion doubles as surveillance for the suspected informant inside U.A.

Aizawa exposes the unsanctioned rescue at Kamino and reveals that expulsion was the intended punishment for everyone involved and everyone who knew, avoided only because All Might retired instead.

Katsuki repays Eijiro for the scope, the class mood recovers, and Mina launches a competition to crown whoever has the best-decorated bedroom.
