Appearance

In life the man is tall and bald, oddly proportioned with a very thick neck, a heavy jaw, and no ears, and in the anime a rice hat shades part of his face, perhaps concealing a headband. Reworked as one of the Six Paths, the body is the only one to lack the group's orange hair, having none at all. It bristles with studs: six spikes ringing the head, three above and below each of its six arms, a huge cylindrical peg at the chin, and paired vertical studs on the upper cheeks, along with a ring driven through the nose. Three faces sit upon it, a content one it normally shows and an angry and a neutral pair that emerge from the sides of its head when the cloak comes off in battle, and a long saw-edged tail arcs from its back up over its head. The Rinnegan in its eyes marks Nagato's control.

History

While he still lives, the puppeteer wields a puppet through threads of chakra, the doll shaped like an infant and even able to give off baby-like cries. After his death Nagato takes hold of the corpse and folds it into the Six Paths of Pain, where it becomes the group's main striking force. The six bodies together bring down and kill Hanzo, and when Jiraiya slips into Amegakure to dig into the Akatsuki, the Asura Path is among those that battle him and help seal his fate. In the anime it aids in capturing the Six-Tails, and during Pain's Assault it fights alongside the other Paths before Naruto destroys it.
