Appearance

Green-eyed and blond, Atsui keeps his hair at neck length in a lopsided bowl cut. His usual look strips the sleeves from the standard Kumogakure uniform and adds the village flak jacket, with bandages around his forearms and guards over his shins. The kanji for heat is inked on his left shoulder.

Personality

Set beside his calm older sister Samui, Atsui comes across as fiery and full of spirit, a trait that shows plainly once a fight breaks out. He likes to storm an opponent directly, which now and then leaves him with no backup whatsoever. The word hot slips into his speech often, and he cheerfully admits to inventing a great many hot-shot slogans.

History

When the Fourth Shinobi World War erupts, both Atsui and Samui are slotted into the alliance's First Division. As Darui squares off against the resurrected Gold and Silver Brothers, the siblings move in to support him. A wave of White Zetsu Army clones swarms Atsui first, and he burns them away before charging straight at Kinkaku and Ginkaku. The Kōkinjō strikes him and Samui alike, pulling the word souls out of their bodies. Those souls are cut loose by the Shichiseiken and swallowed into the Benihisago, sealing the pair under a curse: speak the word each has uttered most in life, and imprisonment becomes eternal. Despite his sister's warning to stay silent, a fresh assault from Kinkaku draws the word hot from Atsui, and the gourd sucks him in at once. Darui pledges to find a means of freeing them both. Tobi later claims the gourd, and only once the war ends does Darui finally release Atsui and Samui from the Benihisago.
