Appearance

Glasses frame Denki's dark eyes, and his black hair falls to about chin length, a portion of it pulled up into a top-knot while the rest hangs loose around his face. Among the Academy students he stands as the shortest, noticeably slight for his age. His early wardrobe is a white-trimmed blue suit worn with shorts and sandals to match. Once he reaches genin rank he switches to a dark blue scout-style outfit of shirt and shorts, adds a pale blue scarf at the throat, and ties on a blue forehead protector.

Personality

Meekness defines Denki at first, since he shrinks from confrontation and struggles to defend himself. That buried frustration at being pushed around once left him open to Nue, which stirred a hidden craving for revenge until Boruto helped him break free and find his footing. Underneath the timidity sits real determination, along with a sharp head for business and fierce loyalty to his family's company.

He hungers to learn, forever chasing new knowledge of machines and science, and he keeps bug-spray on hand out of a genuine loathing for insects. Although he stays modest about his family's fortune and rarely flaunts it, he is happy to spend on something he truly wants, and he enjoys shopping. A mischievous streak surfaces whenever he gets to show off with computers, relishing the thrill of cracking into protected files.

History

Denki's path begins when Boruto steps in during an alley beating and the two become fast friends. Emboldened to chase his own ambitions, Denki clashes with his controlling father and briefly falls under a shadowy presence that nearly drives him to wreck a runaway train out of resentment. Boruto's words snap him out of it in time, and together, aided by the very bullies who once tormented him, they avert disaster before crashing into the Hokage Rock. Denki then enrolls at the Academy and settles in among new classmates.

Through his Academy years he grows from the weakest student into a capable one. He lends his hacking skills to class contests, stands up for Boruto against the hard-line Iwabee, and endures scoldings for skipping lessons. When tree-climbing chakra control eludes him and threatens his graduation, Rock Lee's encouragement and a mutual tutoring pact with Iwabee turn things around, the two eventually braving a burning building to save trapped children. A school trip to Kirigakure sees him seized by local delinquents as bait for Boruto, only for his friends to fight him loose.

After passing Kakashi's loyalty-driven bell test to earn genin rank, Denki joins Team 5 under Udon Ise alongside Iwabee and Metal. He helps expose citizens hypnotized during the Byakuya Gang unrest, plots escape routes with his laptop when Momoshiki devastates the Chunin Exam arena, and repeatedly leans on his engineering to support his squad. His technical talent draws the notice of Katasuke and Sai alike.

During a later Chunin Exam, Denki designs a Lightning Release Suit that reads and predicts an opponent's movements, wearing it to overcome the samurai Tsubaki Kurogane; he is promoted to chunin and made captain of his team. Assigned to the Land of Water, he and Team 5 are drawn into the Funato conflict, where he pilots ships, repairs sabotaged engines, wields Lightning Release to hotwire vessels, and carries his allies through the drawn-out sea war that costs Kagura his life.
